Here at Push Square, we love the Ace Combat series! We’re really looking forward to the next installment, which is coming out later this year, and we hope it’s the best one yet.
Bandai Namco recently shared a short trailer celebrating the history of the Ace Combat series after the announcement of Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve at The Game Awards 2025 last December. It’s been relatively quiet regarding the new game since then, but this trailer gives fans a nostalgic look back at the series’ past.
It’s worth a quick watch — Ace Combat has come a long way:
The Ace Combat series started with a game called Air Combat on PlayStation 1, but it didn’t become truly popular until the PlayStation 2. Many fans consider Ace Combat 4, 5, and Zero to be the best games in the series.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown on PlayStation 4 is also a standout title. It successfully revitalized the series with a compelling story campaign and has become the best-selling game in the entire Ace Combat franchise.
We expect AC8 to keep the positive trend going. Currently, the game isn’t scheduled to release until sometime after 2026.
