Before X-Men ’97 Season 2, Magneto’s Most Dangerous Team Is Revealed

The new season of X-Men ’97 is introducing a particularly dangerous group of mutants, and they’re being led by an incredibly powerful individual.

The first episode of X-Men ’97: Season Two (written by Steve Foxe, with art by Salva Espín and Matt Milla, and lettering by Joe Sabino) continues the story after the events of Season One. Most of the original X-Men team are lost in time, so a new group, X-Factor, has formed to protect the world. However, they’re not ready for the challenges ahead. While they can handle smaller threats like Avalanche and Pyro, the powerful villain Exodus poses a much greater danger, and he’s actively recruiting more followers to join him.

The new comic book, X-Men ’97: Season Two #1, continues the story from the hit TV series. After the events of the first season, the X-Men find themselves lost in time and in a world where mutants are feared and hunted. This issue explores whether they can survive their new circumstances and reveals their current location and time period. It directly connects the end of season one to the beginning of season two, making it a must-read for fans of X-Men ’97.

What To Look Forward To In X-Men ‘97 Season Two

Audiences recently got a glimpse of the mutant Exodus in action, where he battled a well-known villain. Created by Scott Lobdell, Joe Quesada, and J.M. DeMatteis for X-Factor #92 in 1993, Exodus is a powerful mutant originally named Bennet du Paris. He was born in the 12th century and once fought as a Crusader for the Knights Templar.

Following clashes with powerful beings like the Phoenix Force and Apocalypse, Exodus was chosen to be Apocalypse’s most trusted advisor. However, when Exodus wouldn’t execute the Black Knight as ordered, Apocalypse took away his powers and imprisoned him for centuries. Eventually, Magneto freed him in recent times.

After returning, Exodus often took charge in the field while Magneto was away, leading the group of mutant villains. However, his story wasn’t a simple descent into villainy. Over time, the once frightening mutant evolved into a surprisingly thoughtful and complex character within the Marvel Universe.

The first issue of the X-Men ’97 comic book from Marvel Comics is now available. The second season of the X-Men ’97 animated series will begin streaming on Disney+ on July 1st.
