The heart wants what it wants—just ask the mystery celeb who slid into Selena Gomez’s DMs.

Selena Gomez shared a story on her husband Benny Blanco’s podcast, Friends Keep Secrets, about a time a male celebrity sent her a playful, flirtatious message. Benny’s reaction to the message was particularly funny.

Selena responded with “Just heart eyes,” and added she was hoping for a message from the unnamed male celebrity, finishing with a string of emojis indicating she was keeping her fingers crossed, after Benny suggested she check her direct messages on the March 3rd episode.

“Oh my god,” Benny, 37, said in response. “What year was that?”

Selena, age 33, admitted the message was sent in 2022, which surprised her podcast co-hosts, Lil Dicky and Kristin Batalucco.

Even though Lil Dicky, 37, claimed he was replying to Selena’s Instagram Story, Selena and her husband, Benny (who got married in September 2025), immediately dismissed his explanation.

“No, there’s nothing that he responded to,” the Disney Channel alum said. “It does say [the message] would respond to a story.”

“He’s not actually responding,” Benny explained. “He’s just hoping you’ll reply. There isn’t a response yet, and it doesn’t work that way.”

Benny wasn’t upset when another man messaged his now-wife online. In fact, he admired the guy’s boldness, saying, “He went for it, and I respect that.”

Selena said she wasn’t upset by the situation, adding, “I actually thought it was really sweet and kind.”

The singer, known for the song ‘Wolves,’ said it didn’t seem out of line. She also mentioned it was the first time she’d ever witnessed something like that!

Selena may not be checking her direct messages, but she’s definitely aware of the online conversation about her husband’s feet. After her husband, a music producer, caused a stir last month with photos of his feet, Selena showed her support with a sweet and public display of affection.

Selena Gomez shared a sweet video of herself and Benny Blanco kissing on Instagram, writing, “I’m falling more and more in love with you every day” to her partner.

She really emphasized her feelings on the March 3rd podcast by playfully kissing Benny’s toe. When he jokingly asked if Selena enjoyed it, he sweetly told his wife, “I loved that, it felt good, and I love you very much.”
