I’m really excited for the second season of Best Medicine! I heard it’s going to have even more episodes than the first season, which is great news for fans like me.
According to Deadline, the second season of Best Medicine will arrive in fall 2026 and continue to air on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. This season will have 14 episodes, up from 13 in the first season.
FOX recently extended an order for the show, adding two more episodes to the season. Originally, the network planned for 12 episodes, bringing the total to 14.
This news comes as FOX’s fall 2026 schedule has been revealed.
In addition to Best Medicine, viewers can look forward to a variety of other shows this fall, including Celebrity Name That Tune, Celebrity Weakest Link, Doc (continuing right after Best Medicine at 9 p.m. EDT), The Floor, 99 to Beat, Hell’s Kitchen, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, The Simpsons, Animal Control, Universal Basic Guys, and Grimsburg.
Best Medicine is an American version of the popular British show Doc Martin, which ran for 10 seasons and a special movie between 2004 and 2022. The original series starred Martin Clunes as Dr. Martin Ellingham.
The popular British show Doc Martin now has an American remake, joining versions already created in several other countries, including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, France, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, and Spain.
Josh Charles, known for his roles in popular shows like The Good Wife, Sports Night, Masters of Sex, and The Handmaid’s Tale—and an Emmy nominee for his work—stars as Martin Best in Best Medicine. The show follows Dr. Best as he relocates from Boston to a small town in Maine to be near his aunt.
Martin is committed to his work, but he’s always honest with patients, even when delivering difficult news. He also struggles with hemophobia – a fear of blood – which makes his job challenging.
Abigail Spencer, Josh Segarra, Cree and Annie Potts are also featured in Best Medicine. James Clunes made a special appearance in the first season playing Martin’s father. Liz Tuccillo leads the show as showrunner and executive producer, with Ben Silverman, Rodney Ferrell, Howard T. Owens, Mark Crowdy, and Philippa Braithwaite also serving as executive producers.
When Best Medicine premiered in January 2026 after an NFL game, it attracted over 12 million viewers across different platforms, and that number eventually grew to 15 million. The first five episodes of the first season averaged 6 million viewers each.
In addition to getting good viewership numbers, the first season of Best Medicine was generally well-received by critics. Rotten Tomatoes reports a 77% average score from critics and a 64% audience score.
A premiere date for Best Medicine season 2 has not been announced yet.
