This article contains language that some readers may find distressing.
George Gilbert, who was removed from Big Brother, has explained what he said that caused his exit from the show.
ITV announced last week that Gilbert would no longer be on the show due to consistently using offensive language and behaving inappropriately.
Before Gilbert was removed from the house, he’d been warned about inappropriate language. However, those warnings weren’t shown on the broadcast because the language violated broadcasting rules.
The comments that resulted in his dismissal followed a similar pattern. However, The Sun had previously reported that the final decision by company leaders came after Gilbert reportedly made antisemitic remarks.
Gilbert, who previously served as a parish councillor, is now publicly sharing details about the remarks that resulted in his eviction from the reality show, Big Brother.
So, I saw a video online from Gilbert – he was talking about what happened the night before he left the house. Apparently, he and the other housemates were having a pretty wild conversation about conspiracy theories! It sounds like things got a little out there before he decided to leave.
I was pretty emotional that night, and the guys were bombarding me with questions about everything – from who built the pyramids to whether Scientology is a cult. I got a little heated, but that’s just how I express myself when I’m talking.
He admitted he could have chosen his words more carefully and expressed himself in a more thoughtful and considerate way, paying closer attention to his tone.
I strongly condemned the increase in antisemitism in London, stating that it must be stopped and expressing sympathy for those who are unfairly discriminated against. I’m committed to ending all forms of discrimination, including antisemitism.
I was trying to explain why it’s understandable people question certain Jewish conspiracy theories. I pointed out that even some incredibly brilliant thinkers throughout history have, unfortunately, included antisemitic ideas in their work. I basically asked if there might be *some* reason these ideas keep resurfacing, if there’s a grain of truth somewhere. That single question, that line, is what got me removed from the discussion. It caused a lot of trouble, apparently.
He insisted he had the right to ask questions, stating, “As far as I know, we live in a democracy, and that means people are allowed to inquire – it’s part of free speech. But apparently not here.”
He acknowledged that questioning whether there’s some truth to a rumor – by asking ‘Where there’s smoke, there’s fire?’ – could be needlessly confrontational.
I’m simply trying to understand why antisemitism has persisted for so long, so I can effectively combat it.
He explained that he was perceived as lecturing rather than having a discussion because his housemates weren’t offering opposing viewpoints. He insisted he wasn’t trying to preach, and believes he’d still be part of the conversation if his housemates had been more knowledgeable about the topics being discussed.

Gilbert also shared other things he said on the show that resulted in official warnings from producers.
Okay, so I remember hearing about this from Gilbert – apparently, he got a warning on the very first night. It all started when he was talking about Hitler and said something like, Hitler wasn’t purely evil, but was ‘misguided’ and acted the way he did because he’d been fed a bunch of lies about Jewish people. It caused a real stir, and someone flagged it to the producers, hence the warning.
On the third night, Gilbert received a warning after stating that having a child with someone who wasn’t white would be a betrayal of his fellow redheads.
“Sorry if that offends you, but I’d love to know if it does,” he told viewers in his video.
He received a warning on the show after mimicking a fellow contestant, Sam, who is gay, during a game of truth or dare. This comment was one of the instances that led to the warning.
When challenged to share his honest feelings about the other contestants, Gilbert responded by making fun of Sam’s speech and movements, dramatically imitating what he perceived as effeminate gestures.
Gilbert caused controversy and upset viewers several times with his opinions. He particularly shocked his housemates when he suggested that people experiencing homelessness should stop blaming others and avoid drug use.
He faced criticism for calling a kiss between two women in the animated movie *Buzz Lightyear* ‘pornography’. A fellow housemate, Zelah, pointed out that he was unfairly sexualizing the same-sex relationship.
I heard Gilbert say to Sam that he’s worried about how ‘gender ideology’ is being presented to kids, and he feels it’s being pushed on them when they’re at their most impressionable.
He previously stated after leaving his position that, as a strong advocate for free speech, he’s always willing to openly discuss and challenge any issue, even controversial ones.
He explained that what people find offensive varies, and he clearly overstepped the mark this time. He was disappointed the discussion couldn’t continue and had to end so abruptly.
