Julie Chen Moonves is used to surprises, but even she wasn’t prepared for this one.
Following the passing of season 27 contestant Mickey Lee, former Talk show host paid tribute to someone she was fond of from the show.
I was so touched when I interviewed Mickey Lee a couple of months ago for my YouTube series, God 101. She shared something incredibly personal with me – she was born with a heart defect, and later, as an adult, she miraculously survived a terrible ATV accident that really should have taken her life. She always said God spared her for a reason, and it broke my heart to hear that God has now brought her home. It was a privilege to know her and share her story.
“Goodbye, dear Mickey,” she said, age 55. “I look forward to seeing you again someday. I’m praying for your family and friends during this difficult time, and hope they find comfort and peace.”
Earlier this month, Mickey was admitted to the hospital after his heart stopped several times due to complications from the flu.
A recent Instagram post shared on December 22nd said Mickey is surrounded by her medical team and family, but faces a difficult recovery. The post highlighted Mickey’s bravery, vibrant personality, and memorable time on Big Brother, and asked fans to offer her the same love and support she’s given to others.
However, her loved ones returned to social media Dec. 26 with a heartbreaking update.
The family of Mickey Lee announced with deep sorrow that she passed away on Christmas evening. They shared the news on her Instagram, noting that Mickey won over audiences across the country during her time on Big Brother. She was remembered for her genuine personality, inner strength, and inspiring spirit, leaving a lasting impact on both fans and those she met on the show.
The note went on to say she’ll be remembered for making so many people happy, and for the real, meaningful relationships she built with others, both in her work and in her personal life.

Two years before appearing on Big Brother, Mickey Lee shared glimpses of her life on Instagram.
While in Mykonos, Mickey took a bunch of photos and shared them online, playfully claiming the scenery was so beautiful, even Picasso would have been impressed.
Mickey celebrated her birthday with a horseback riding outing with her friends. She shared a photo on Instagram in April 2024 with the caption “giddy up.”
When Mickey first appeared on Big Brother in July 2025, she took a picture with the cast of season 27 and the show’s host, Julie Chen Moonves.
Julie and Mickey sat down for a conversation as the season came to an end in September.
Mickey’s family announced on December 22nd that she had been hospitalized after experiencing several heart attacks. Sadly, she passed away three days later at the age of 35.
