Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are leaving the door open for Bill and Ted 4.
What is the status of Bill and Ted 4?
Sir Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are currently performing together in a Broadway production of Waiting for Godot. The play began performances last month and will run through January 2026.
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are famous for starring together in the *Bill & Ted* movies. In a recent interview with Variety about their stage show, they expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of making a fourth *Bill & Ted* film.
“Yes and yes,” Reeves said.
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter became a popular duo in the 1989 sci-fi comedy, *Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure*. They played Bill and Ted, two not-very-bright high school friends who are in a band. The pair face a big problem: if they fail history, Ted will be sent to military school.
Bill and Ted don’t realize how crucial it is that they pass their history class – the future of the world actually depends on it! Luckily, Rufus, a time traveler from the future, shows up in a phone booth to give them a hand. Together, they travel through time to collect famous figures who can help them ace their presentation.
Stephen Herek directed *Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure*, which was well-received by critics and earned over $40.5 million globally. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter returned as Bill & Ted in the 1991 sequel, *Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey*, but it didn’t perform as well, bringing in $38 million and receiving a more mixed response from reviewers. Despite the sequel’s performance, both films have since gained a dedicated following and are considered cult classics.
After almost 30 years, Bill & Ted returned in the 2020 film *Bill & Ted Face the Music*. In this third installment, Bill and Ted are on a mission to save the world by writing a truly excellent song. The movie also features a talented cast including Kristen Schaal, Samara Weaving, Jack Haven, Anthony Carrigan, Erinn Hayes, Jayma Mays, Holland Taylor, Kid Cudi, William Sadler, and Jillian Bell.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, *Bill & Ted Face the Music* didn’t make much money at the box office, earning only $6.3 million worldwide.
