Billie Eilish had a less than lovely encounter with a fan.
During the first show of her *Hit Me Hard and Soft* tour in Miami, Florida on October 9th, a fan reached out and grabbed the 23-year-old singer as she was walking through the crowd.
In a TikTok video posted by @its_nikkixo, Grammy-winning singer Billie Eilish excitedly went to greet fans after her performance, giving them high fives at the front of the crowd. When she reached for one fan, they unexpectedly pulled her hand, causing her to stumble into the barrier separating the crowd from the stage. Security quickly helped her up, and Billie immediately went backstage.
TopMob has reached out to Billie’s rep for a comment but has not heard back.
The fan encounter happened as Billie Eilish started a three-night series of concerts at the venue, with shows continuing on October 11th and 12th. While she hasn’t spoken about this specific incident, the Academy Award winner has previously explained why she’s sometimes careful when meeting fans.
Billie Eilish described a feeling many people can relate to – feeling out of control and acting strangely. In a January 2021 interview with *Vanity Fair*, she explained that when she gets really excited, she sometimes loses track of social boundaries. She shared that this has led to awkward encounters, like people kissing her or unexpectedly picking her up and spinning her around.
She emphasized the importance of setting boundaries and having a supportive network. She also shared that she doesn’t want to reject anyone who shows her affection, even if that affection is intense or unconventional.
Billie is careful around fans, but she truly values their support, particularly those she’s known from the beginning and sees regularly at her shows.
Billie recently shared on *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* that it’s been amazing to grow up alongside her fans. She explained that, especially when she was starting her career in Los Angeles, she’d see the same young fans at all her shows, and they were all around the same age. It felt like they were all growing up together.
She explained that she often sees familiar faces. “It’s wonderful to recognize people – I mean, I can see who they are! – and it really feels like reconnecting with old friends.”

Cardi B was visibly upset during a performance in Las Vegas in July 2023 when someone in the audience threw a drink at her. She reacted by throwing her microphone at the person. The following day, a woman filed a police report claiming she’d been hit, but as of August 2023, police had not made any arrests and Cardi B’s lawyers were told she wouldn’t be charged with any crime.
Oh my god, Bebe Rexha! Seriously, she deserves the best night ever, and it’s just awful what happened. I mean, someone actually *threw* a phone at her face during her show in New York last June! She posted a picture of her eye, thankfully saying she was okay, but still! It’s insane. And get this – the guy’s lawyer, Todd A Spodek, is saying his client, Nicolas Malvagna, didn’t *mean* to hurt her! Apparently, he just wanted a photo with his phone as a souvenir! Can you believe it? Like, he wasn’t trying to injure Bebe, just get a picture? It’s still totally messed up, but… that’s what he’s claiming.
Kelsea Ballerini was startled when someone threw a bracelet onto the stage during her June 2023 concert in Idaho. She explained on Instagram that the bracelet hit her in the eyes, but thankfully, it scared her more than it hurt.

Pink found it amusing when a fan threw her a wheel of Brie during her performance at the British Summer Time Festival in London in 2023. She jokingly exclaimed, “What the fk… I wanna kiss you on the mouth!” However, she was much more bewildered the next day when someone tossed a bag of ashes onto the stage. She asked, “This is your mom? I don’t know how to feel about this.”
It seems like anything goes at concerts these days! During his ‘Love on Tour,’ Harry Styles was hit with various objects thrown from the audience, including, surprisingly, Skittles at a Los Angeles show. The candy brand later posted on Twitter, asking fans to please refrain from throwing their products.

As a lifestyle expert, I remember when Ariana Grande was hit with a lemon during her 2019 Coachella set – it was a bit of a buzzkill for fans! While she wasn’t thrilled, to say the least, Ariana handled it like a pro, playfully acknowledging it onstage with a quick, ‘Someone just threw a lemon at me, seriously?’ She really knows how to roll with the punches – or, in this case, the citrus!
