Hollywood hasn’t lost Jami Gertz.
Actress Dina Meyer, known for her role in Lost Boys, stepped out with her husband, Tony Ressler, at the opening gala for the new David Geffen Galleries at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on April 16th. Meyer wore a white outfit with a floral coat from Libertine and a studded bag by Khaite, while Ressler looked sharp in a classic black tuxedo.
Molly Ringwald and her husband had a special evening at the gala. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) will name a new wing after them – the Ressler Family Wing – in recognition of their $50 million donation, as reported by the New York Times. The couple have been dedicated supporters of the museum for years, and Ringwald’s husband has been co-chair of the LACMA board since 2015.
Okay, so everyone’s talking about his latest investment, but seriously, does anyone remember when he and his wife – they’ve been married since 1989, can you believe it?! – bought the Atlanta Hawks back in 2015? It was HUGE! Apparently, it cost around $720 million. And Forbes just said he’s worth over $10 billion now! It’s amazing to watch everything he does, honestly.
In a 2018 interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Gertz remembered a moment where she and the other owner looked at each other and he asked, “Jami, are we really going to do this?” She admitted she was frightened, but he encouraged her, saying it would be a lot of fun. They then celebrated, jumping and shouting with excitement about having just purchased a basketball team.
Despite some downplaying of her contributions to their success, the actress known for Twister has clarified that this isn’t accurate.

People assume I married Tony for his money,” she explained. “But actually, I was already more financially successful than he was when we met. I covered all the expenses – I bought our first house and paid for our first trip. I married him simply because I loved him.
The couple, who have four children, currently divides their time between Los Angeles and Atlanta. Though Gertz still takes on acting roles sometimes, she’s prioritized it less in recent years.
She admitted it was difficult to express, but she loves her work. As she told the Hollywood Reporter, it’s brought so much joy and valuable life lessons, helping her grow as a person and understand the world better.

Following a serious heart attack in 2019, the actor known for The Mask of Zorro returned to his hometown of Málaga, Spain, to dedicate himself to performing on stage.
“It completely shifted my perspective on life,” Antonio shared with The Times in March 2026. “When I was confronted with my own mortality, I realized I’m fundamentally a stage actor.”
The Tony Award nominee, who still acts in TV and movies sometimes, now owns a theater and actively participates in local events.
He went on to say he’d never felt happier. Staying connected to his community—his home, his friends, and his background—was incredibly important to him, and he’d actually strengthened that bond over time, not lost it.

As a long-time viewer, it was really sad to see The Ellen DeGeneres Show end in 2022 after nineteen seasons. It wasn’t just the end of an era, but it came after some serious accusations about a really negative and difficult work environment. There was an internal investigation, some top executives were fired, and honestly, a lot of people were just upset about what they heard. It definitely cast a shadow over the show’s final season.
Ellen made a comeback with her last standup comedy show, For Your Approval, which premiered on Netflix in September 2024. Before the show aired, she announced her plans to step away from Hollywood completely.
You know, I’ve been doing stand-up for a long time, and I’ve decided it’s time to wrap things up. I recently told my audience during my tour that this is it – after my upcoming Netflix special, I’m officially retiring from comedy. It’s a big decision, but I’m excited for what’s next!
Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have settled in the Cotswolds. Ellen shared with Richard Bacon in July 2025, during a conversation at the Everyman theater in Cheltenham, that they decided to stay there permanently in November 2024 following Donald Trump’s reelection.
She raved about the English countryside, telling the BBC it was ‘absolutely beautiful’ and unlike anything she was used to. She especially loved the charming villages, towns, and architecture, noting it seemed to offer a more relaxed and simple way of life.
“It’s just a nicer place,” Ellen explained. “The animals are well cared for, and everyone is so friendly. We really love living here. We moved in November, which wasn’t the best timing, but I finally got to see snow! Portia brought her horses with her, I have chickens, and we even had sheep for a short while – about two weeks.”

Tyra Banks, the host of America’s Next Top Model, decided to move to Australia partly to focus on her ice cream company, SMiZE and Dream. She explained on Today with Jenna & Friends that her business had initially focused on supplying ice cream to places like airlines and cruise ships, and she’d been traveling to Australia frequently to oversee production at a large facility there. She quickly fell in love with the country during her visits.
She also recognized Australia as a strong market for her product, noting that Australia, along with America and New Zealand, are the top three ice cream-consuming countries.
Banks ultimately relocated to Australia with her son, York (whose father is her ex, Erik Asla), and her boyfriend, Louis Bélanger-Martin, stating that Australia has been a wonderful experience for her and her family.

Eva Longoria, known for her role on Desperate Housewives, has moved from Los Angeles and now splits her time between Mexico and Spain with her husband, José Bastón, and their son, Santiago. She explained to Marie Claire that while she lived in Los Angeles for most of her adult life, the city had changed, and the pandemic accelerated that change. Issues like homelessness and taxes contributed to her decision, though she doesn’t want to criticize California.
Longoria clarified in an interview on The View: Behind the Table podcast that her move wasn’t politically motivated, despite occurring after the 2020 election. She initially went to Spain for a six-month filming project and then to Mexico for another, and has been living between the two countries ever since. She feels fortunate to be able to leave the US, expressing anxiety and sadness for those who can’t.
Despite the move, Longoria remains busy with her career, recently appearing in Only Murders in the Building and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip.

Actor Richard Gere has relocated from Chicago to Spain with his family. He shared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in November 2024 that his wife, Alejandra Silva, is Spanish and they plan to live in Madrid for several years. He’s excited about the move, believing it will be beneficial for their sons, Alexander and James, who are already bilingual. Gere also has an adult son, Homer, with his former partner, Carey Lowell. In a January 2025 interview with Elle España, Gere stated that the whole family is thriving and happier than ever.

Okay, so I’ve been following Christina Milian for ages, and I’m SO thrilled she’s finally living her best life in Paris! She’s been with Matt Pokora for like, seven or eight years now – they’re seriously adorable. For years, they were basically flying back and forth between the US and France every six months, which sounds exhausting! But now, they’ve officially moved! It’s all for the kids, you know? Violet, her daughter, and her two little boys, Isaiah and Kenna, are all going to school in Paris! She said it was the perfect opportunity, and honestly, I totally agree! She’s been sharing little glimpses of their life, and it looks absolutely magnifique. She says the kids are happy, they’re all learning French, and she’s loving the lifestyle. She gets to be a mom and enjoy the days, then work when it’s nighttime in Paris but still daytime back home. It just sounds like such a perfect, healthy balance for her and the whole family, and I’m living for it!

Lindsay Lohan is frustrated by the ongoing speculation surrounding her departure from Los Angeles. She recently explained that a demanding work schedule combined with intense media attention in the early 2000s created a difficult situation.
“A lot of my work got lost because of the paparazzi and everything that came with it when I was younger, which was frustrating,” Lohan told Bustle in March 2024. “I wish that hadn’t happened. It felt like the media attention took on a life of its own, and that’s why I wanted to step away. I needed the focus to be on my work, and that wasn’t happening if there wasn’t a constant story being created.”
Lohan moved overseas, living in London and Dubai, and even opened beach clubs in Greece. However, she also sought a more private life away from the public eye.
Lindsay Lohan wondered if she’d ever find love, admitting she worried it might never happen. She realized that taking time to focus on herself was key to opening up new possibilities and receiving opportunities she truly wanted.
Eventually, she did find love with Bader Shammas, marrying him in 2022 and welcoming their son, Luai, in 2023.
The couple currently lives in Dubai, but Lindsay hasn’t left acting behind. She’s continued to appear in films like Our Little Secret, Irish Wish, and Freakier Friday.

As someone who’s observed a lot of career shifts, I can really relate to Josh’s decision to step away from Hollywood. He realized it wasn’t just a location, but a whole way of life, and he wanted more balance. He told People magazine that being surrounded by constant talk of movies can limit your perspective, and he craved a life with more variety. He wanted to be around people with different passions, something he calls the ‘spice of life!’
So, he, his wife Tamsin Egerton, and their four children made a big move to the Hampshire countryside in England. He shared with The Guardian that while life seems simpler with a family, it’s actually filled with more of what truly matters. It’s a wonderful reminder that slowing down can allow you to focus on what’s important.
And despite the change of pace, he hasn’t stopped working! He’s taken on some exciting roles in films like Verity, Fight or Flight, and Trap, proving you can have a fulfilling career and a balanced life.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always fascinated by how people choose to live, and Jesse’s choices are really refreshing! You might be surprised to learn he actually lives in Indiana, not Los Angeles. He shared with CBS News recently that he’s been based there on and off for the last ten years, and it just feels like home. He prefers a sense of stability, which is something I always advocate for! Despite being an Oscar nominee, he lives a remarkably normal life with his wife, Anna Strout, and their son, Banner. He’s intentionally stepped away from the constant buzz of Hollywood – he’s not on social media and doesn’t spend his days networking. It’s amazing! He says his son doesn’t even watch movies, which helps keep him grounded and away from constantly worrying about his place in the industry. It’s a beautiful example of prioritizing a peaceful, family-focused life.

You might remember Eliza Dushku from shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the movie Bring It On. Well, I recently learned she’s taken a fascinating turn! As of September 2024, she’s become a certified psychedelic-assisted therapist and is continuing her education to work as a mental health professional. It’s so inspiring to see people using their platforms to pursue meaningful work in wellness!
She explained to Boston Magazine that she was able to change her life’s path to prioritize her own well-being, with the goal of then helping others heal. She felt it was important to share the positive changes she’d experienced – the peace and renewed passion she’d found – because she now clearly understood her true purpose in life.

The actress best known for playing a character on The Flintstones shared that she relocated to Ireland in January 2025 with her son, Clay. She’s currently working on becoming an Irish citizen because of her family’s roots in the country. While she mentioned recent political events as a factor in her move, she hasn’t ruled out the possibility of returning to her home country someday.
In a TikTok video, she shared that she misses her children, her friends, and many aspects of her life back home. She’s currently working on building a new life in this country, and the family will think about returning to America when it’s safe and everyone there has equal rights.

I was so surprised and a little saddened to hear that Evangeline Lily, best known for her role in Ant-Man and the Wasp, is stepping away from acting for now. After two decades in the industry, she’s decided to take an indefinite break, and I completely respect her need to prioritize whatever comes next. It’s been amazing watching her work all these years!
In a June 2024 Instagram post, Evangeline shared how happy and at peace she feels while pursuing her dreams. She expressed gratitude for everything she has, explaining that while it can be daunting to choose a path different from what’s expected – like prioritizing purpose over money and fame – living authentically brings a deep sense of fulfillment instead of fear.
However, she’s not ruling out a return to Hollywood completely, saying, “I could see myself going back someday, but right now, I’m happy where I am.”

Since starring in the 2019 Netflix series V-Wars, the actor best known for The Vampire Diaries has been focusing on a personal mission: fighting climate change by working to improve soil health around the world.
Ian, who has two children with his wife Nikki Reed, took a break from acting over four years ago to focus on raising his family and developing his businesses. He was also working to release two documentaries, Kiss the Ground (2020) and its sequel, Common Ground, both of which highlight the importance of regenerative farming. He shared this with TopMob News in November 2023.
Looking ahead, the actor said he envisions himself as a rancher, focused on building lasting brands – whether it’s his bourbon, his health and wellness company, or sustainable farming methods that prioritize healthy soil. He explained that this is the path his life was already taking, and it’s the reason he’s so passionate about these things. It’s simply who he is and who he’s determined to become.

You know, a few years ago I made the decision to step away from acting. It wasn’t an easy one, but I really wanted to explore other creative avenues. Now, I’m loving focusing on writing and directing, and of course, hosting my podcast, Empty Inside. I was chatting with Anna Faris on a recent episode, and we talked a lot about making these kinds of shifts in your career – it’s been incredibly fulfilling for me.
Jennette recently shared that she feels deeply ashamed of some of her past acting roles, detailing these feelings in her 2022 memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died. She admitted to feeling resentful towards her career and unfulfilled by the parts she played, describing them as cheesy and embarrassing. Having worked on those shows from ages 13 to 21, she was already feeling self-conscious by age 15, noting that her friends weren’t impressed by her being on a Nickelodeon show.
Despite her previous experiences, she hasn’t ruled out returning to acting. She explained to TopMob News in October 2022 that writing her book helped her consider acting in a new light, free from past pressures. She believes the only way she might consider it again would be if she wrote a role specifically for herself.

It seemed like a pretty easy decision. The chance to marry Prince Harry, devote ourselves to causes we care about, and wear the Queen’s tiaras would make leaving Hollywood completely worthwhile.
Similar to Grace Kelly’s journey from Hollywood to Monaco, Meghan Markle transitioned from her acting career in Toronto, where she starred in the show Suits, to a life within the British Royal Family. Now that she and Prince Harry have stepped down as senior royals and live in California, Meghan is returning to professional life. This includes a multi-year deal with Netflix, where she released the 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan and will launch a lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, in 2025. She has also started a podcast and launched her brand, As Ever.

After starring in over 40 films since she began her career with 1994’s The Mask, the actress really needed a rest when she finished filming Annie in 2014.
She told Gwyneth Paltrow that she realized she wanted a different lifestyle. After years of intense work and filmmaking, she felt burnt out. She explained that making a movie demands complete dedication – long hours every day for months – leaving no room for personal life.
Cameron Diaz had many interests she wanted to pursue, including writing – she followed up her successful book, The Body Book, with The Longevity Book – and starting a family with her husband, Benji Madden. While she told InStyle magazine in 2019 that she didn’t miss acting and was focused on wellness, she seemed open to the possibility of returning for at least one more project.
Jamie Foxx explained to TopMob News how they convinced Cameron Diaz to star in the 2025 Netflix movie Back in Action. He said they practically pleaded with her, saying, ‘Please do one more!’ He added that they all love her and have been eagerly awaiting her return, and that the movie is going to be amazing.

The actor stated firmly that he wouldn’t return to the show after completing his five years on Empire. When asked by Extra about his plans before the sixth and final season aired in 2019, Terrence Howard said, “I’m finished with acting. I’m done with pretending.”
Despite appearing in a few projects since then, the Academy Award nominee announced his intention to retire from acting again in 2022 while promoting his Peacock series, The Best Man: The Final Chapters. He explained to ET that he felt he’d given his all as an actor and was now happy to see new talent emerge, not wanting to simply repeat performances he’d done before.
Even with those past issues, Howard has continued to act, appearing in shows like Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist and the Netflix film Shirley. He also has several other projects planned for the future.

After his character, King Joffrey, died on the show in 2014, the 21-year-old actor told EW he was leaving acting. He explained that he’d been working since he was 8 years old and simply wasn’t enjoying it as much anymore.
Jack isn’t a child star anymore, and some of the excitement has faded. He explained that now that he’s considering acting as a career, it feels different. Previously, it was just a fun hobby he shared with friends during his free time. He still likes acting, but earning a living from it changes things. It’s not that he dislikes it, he just doesn’t see it as his long-term goal.
After taking six years off, Jack returned to acting in 2020 with a role in the BBC series Out of Her Mind. Since then, he’s also been in films like Rebecca’s Boyfriend and In the Land of Saints and Sinners, and TV shows including Safe Harbor and The Famous Five.

After landing the role in the September 2020 virtual table read of Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Jennifer Aniston married actor Kevin Kline in 1989. They decided to stagger their work schedules so they could both be available to care for their children, Owen and Greta (who now performs as the singer Frankie Cosmos). Kline shared this arrangement in an interview with Playboy magazine.
I’ve always admired how Phoebe prioritizes her family. Whenever it’s her turn to work on a project, she consistently chooses to be with her kids. While she did make a quick appearance in Jennifer Jason Leigh’s 2001 film, The Anniversary Party, she really dedicates herself to running her lovely boutique, Blue Tree, here in New York City. It’s clear her family and the shop are her main passions.

During the peak of his success with films like Ghostbusters and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, the actor paused his career after the death of his wife from breast cancer in 1991. He wanted to dedicate his time to raising his children, Rachel and Mitchell.
Despite not appearing in a live-action movie since 1997 – he even turned down a small role in the 2016 Ghostbusters remake – Rick remains a beloved figure, as shown by the strong reaction to news of an assault he experienced while walking in New York City in 2020. Fortunately, fans will be happy to hear he’s returning to the screen in the upcoming Disney reboot Shrunk, alongside Josh Gad.

After marrying fashion designer Adam Kimmel in 2010, actress Drew Barrymore suggested she was considering stepping back from acting. She told Vogue that most acting roles require a lot of intimate scenes, and she wasn’t interested in that. She explained that while her relationship was strong, she needed a truly exceptional role to justify taking on potentially difficult or compromising material – something worthwhile on the other side of that challenge.
After her son, Martin, joined his sister, Louisanna, in 2014, she firmly decided to step away from acting. She told Us Weekly in 2016 that she felt like an outsider and was now focused solely on being a mom. She also mentioned she helps her husband, Kimmel, with his work and enjoys painting as a hobby, explaining, “I think that’s mainly why I stopped [acting].”

She’d built a successful career with shows like Ally McBeal, Nip/Tuck, Arrested Development, and Scandal. After all that, the Australian actress started to think she might be ready for a change.
Turning 45, I started thinking about trying something completely new and challenging,” she shared on her wife Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show in 2018. “I had a good idea of what my acting career would look like for the next decade or two, so I decided to leave that behind and start my own business.”
Her company, General Public, which creates art for everyone, was almost complete – she just needed to finish one last piece.
I spoke with Mitch Hurwitz, the creator of Arrested Development, and told him I was done with acting, so I wouldn’t be in a potential season five. He was very understanding and supportive, and we had a good talk. Surprisingly, he ended up writing me into five episodes anyway.

It’s understandable why, after winning three Oscars, an actor might decide to retire. Following his sixth Oscar nomination for the 2017 film Phantom Thread, the actor announced through his representative that he was retiring from acting. The statement expressed his gratitude to colleagues and fans over the years, and clarified that this was a personal decision, with no further comments to be made.
Just as Daniel Day-Lewis had announced his retirement from acting, a new project drew him back in. In October 2024, Focus Features revealed he would star in Anemone, a film he co-wrote with his son, Ronan Day-Lewis, who will also be directing.

Okay, so, like, I was obsessed with Teddy Duncan on Good Luck Charlie, and then she just… disappeared! But it wasn’t a typical ‘disappearing act,’ you guys. She went to MIT! Can you believe it? A master’s degree from MIT! And then, as if that wasn’t enough, she went and got her PhD there! Seriously, a PhD! And now? Harvard Law?! It’s amazing! I’m so proud, even though I haven’t seen her as Teddy in years. She’s basically a genius, and I’ve been following her journey ever since she left Disney Channel. It’s incredible to see how far she’s come!
On top of everything else, Bridgit founded Northwood Space, a startup focused on building ground stations for sending and receiving data from satellites. She became the company’s CEO in February 2023.
