It’s exciting news that the anime adaptation of Black Clover is indeed coming back for a second season soon, following a lengthy hiatus of over five years and minimal updates about the series continuation. The 10th anniversary of the manga has been particularly enjoyable for fans who have eagerly anticipated this moment, as not only is the anime making a comeback, but also various other projects related to the manga that seems to be nearing its conclusion.
Asta and Yuno were abandoned as babies at the same church and grew up together, being both friends and rivals. As children, they made a pact to work towards becoming the Wizard King. As they got older, their abilities diverged – Yuno showed exceptional magical prowess, while Asta, who was born without magic, focused on rigorous physical training. When they were 15, Yuno found a rare four-leaf clover Grimoire, suggesting great potential, but Asta got nothing. However, when Yuno encountered danger, Asta’s hidden power manifested, giving him a mysterious five-leaf clover Grimoire. Now, both set out on their journey, each striving to earn the title of Wizard King.
When Does Black Clover‘s Anime Return?
Initially, when the main image and advertising clip were unveiled, it was certain that the anime would debut in 2026. However, Crunchyroll later took down the release window and replaced it with “Coming Soon.” This doesn’t necessarily imply that the season won’t be out until 2027 or later; instead, there’s a strong chance the anime will return next year. The production process is ongoing, and further details like the release date and team roster will be disclosed as time goes by.
Studio Pierrot, known for hit series like “Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War” and “Naruto,” is set to animate the upcoming anime. However, the likelihood of the former passionate director, Tatsuya Yoshihara, returning is slim due to his commitment to the upcoming “Chainsaw Man: Reze” movie and potential involvement in “Wistoria: Wand and Sword season 2” next year. Despite this, given the popularity of “Black Clover,” it’s certain that a skilled director will be appointed to build upon Yoshihara’s outstanding work over the years, as Studio Pierrot is renowned for its top-tier anime productions.
Where Will Black Clover Season 2 Pick Up From the Manga?
I found myself at a pause midway through the Spade Kingdom Raid storyline, specifically on episode 170, which corresponds to chapters 268-272 in the manga. The arc concludes much later, in chapter 331, leaving a substantial amount of content yet to be adapted. Notably, the anime halted at a thrilling juncture where Asta and Liebe embark on intense training to storm the Dark Triad’s headquarters with the objective of rescuing Captain Yami. So, when the anime resumes, it seems we’re in for one action-packed ride until the conclusion of this arc!
In light of Studio Pierrot’s decision to move towards a seasonal release format to boost quality, there’s a strong possibility that Black Clover will transition from its current weekly broadcast, which has been problematic for the anime. Since there are 59 chapters remaining in this arc, sufficient for a single cour or 12-13 episode season, the anime typically covers around 4-5 chapters per episode. With Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War serving as an example of how well the series can adapt, Black Clover’s anime is poised to flourish under this new production schedule that will resolve its issues and further elevate the quality.
Black Clover’s Anime Could Make An Appearance In Jump Festa
Approximately five months remain until Jump Festa 2026, and given the series’ history of participating in past events, it seems reasonable to expect its presence on one of the stages, potentially revealing fresh details. During its initial run, the series regularly attended panels, so a return this year is quite possible. Given the event’s significance for Black Clover fans, it would be ideal if the first look and release date were announced there. Keep a close watch in December, as this could be where these exciting updates are unveiled.
