In simple terms, Yuki Tabata’s manga series “Black Clover” is nearing its conclusion, with the battle approaching its end following the recent Summer 2025 release. The Kingdom of Clover is grappling with its most significant crisis yet as Lucius Zogratis, a powerful entity hosting a devil, seizes control over Julius Novachrono’s body. Lucius’ abilities are unprecedented, making him an even more formidable foe after he links himself to the Grimoire Towers. The Magic Knights have been left battered and depleted of their magical energy following their intense battle with the Paladins. The slim chance of victory now lies with two young Magic Knights, Asta and Yuno Grinberryall. However, matters worsen when Lucius delivers a lethal strike to Asta.
Warning: Spoilers Ahead for the Black Clover Summer 2025 Return!
Moments before fainting, Asta gives Yuno his Demon Dweller sword and Anti-Magic abilities. Mimosa is attempting to heal him, but Yuno is holding off the villain singlehandedly. Unfortunately, healing Asta is proving tricky due to the ongoing perils and Mimosa’s limited mana. As Moris Libardirt was about to strike at Mimosa and Asta, help arrived in the form of mages from the Diamond Kingdom. The friend who was once Asta’s enemy during the Witches’ Forest Arc kept his word and came to aid him in his hour of need.
Black Clover’s Diamond Kingdom Deserves a Lot More Attention
In the realm known as the Diamond Kingdom, numerous wars have been waged, making it a land where some of the world’s mightiest mages reside. Among these is a fresh addition to the cast, Feremena, who serves as the vessel for the very essence of the Earth Spirit. Throughout history, there have been merely four mages endowed with the ability to wield Spirit Magic in each era, their powers amplified significantly due to this gift. It was around ten years into the series’ run that the Earth Spirit and its guardian were first revealed.
In contrast to the Heart and Spade Kingdoms, which maintained their own unique courses – the Heart Kingdom secluded and the Spade Kingdom patiently waiting for expansion – I found myself in the midst of a different story with the Diamond Kingdom. This kingdom, unlike its peaceful neighbors, harbored an ongoing rivalry with the Clover Kingdom, often resorting to clandestine or overt hostilities to acquire more resources. However, under the manipulative rule of Moris Libardirt, who exploited the weakened monarch, the once prosperous Diamond Kingdom was slowly crumbling, a far cry from its former glory.
Following his recognition of errors, Mars vowed to rectify matters and parted ways with Asta in the final moments of the Witches’ Forest Storyline. Subsequently, he devoted himself to improving his kingdom and eventually expelled Moris who later allied with the Spade Kingdom. After a series of events following the Witches’ Forest Storyline, Zenon single-handedly decimated one of their forces. As the Spade Kingdom Invasions Arc started, the Dark Triad had almost entirely taken over the Diamond Kingdom, a challenging predicament for an already struggling nation. The narrative only touched upon these occurrences briefly and left many details unanswered regarding what exactly transpired in this interval.
The Diamond Kingdom Deserves Its Own Spin-Off (Or At Least a Filler Arc)
Regrettably for enthusiasts of ‘Black Clover’, the manga is nearing its conclusion, which means that much about the Diamond Kingdom may remain unexplored. We can only expect fragments of information from characters like Mars or other Diamond Kingdom magicians. This enigmatic kingdom has a dismal past marked by researching and experimenting on children, compelling them to wage war against one another. The battle against Zenon was not fully portrayed, and since then, the status of Diamond Kingdom’s mages within Clover Kingdom remains uncertain, especially following the downfall of the Dark Triad.
Beyond this, the monarch was gravely ill and lacked mental clarity to govern his realm, allowing Moris to carry out brutal actions. Given such injustice, it’s plausible that high-ranking mages and citizens of the kingdom rose up in rebellion, leading to their current peaceful state as depicted in recent episodes. The character of Feremena remains a puzzle, particularly intriguing after Moris referred to her as his “former greatest success,” hinting at potentially sinister experimentation on her part.
If the series had given more attention to these aspects, they could have resulted in some intriguing developments. Notably, Mars, one of Asta’s closest friends and admirers, hails from a kingdom that Asta never visited during the storyline. Interestingly enough, this includes Fanzell Kruger, Asta’s teacher. Unfortunately, with the manga nearing its conclusion, it appears unlikely for these threads to be further explored in the main series. However, it might be fascinating if a separate spin-off centered around their stories were to emerge. At present, however, that seems rather improbable.
