The latest update to Black Clover has concluded the battle against Lucius Zogratis, setting the stage for the manga’s final arc this spring. While the war is over and most of those who were affected have been saved, Julius Novachrono tragically died after Lucius Zogratis was defeated, leaving the position of Wizard King vacant for the story’s conclusion.

Black Clover’s Final Arc Says Goodbye to Julius

The latest chapters of Black Clover (387-389) conclude the battle against Lucius Zogratis in the Winter 2026 issue of Jump GIGA magazine. Asta and Yuno both reach their full potential – Asta mastering his Anti-Magic and Yuno fully connecting with his Spirit power. Working together, they defeat Lucius, freeing Julius’ body and briefly restoring the former Wizard King.

Seeing Asta and Yuno defeat Lucius and end the battle, Julius uses his Time Magic for one final act as Wizard King. This allows him to undo all the damage across the Clover Kingdom and save those who were about to die. The war had been so intense, with everyone risking everything to defeat the Paladins, that many deaths were expected. However, thanks to Julius, only he ultimately sacrifices his life.

What Does This Mean for the Future?

Now that Julius has used his time magic for the last time and disappeared, the Clover Kingdom is once again without a Wizard King. The current story arc, called the “Ultimate Wizard King Arc,” hinted that a new Wizard King would be chosen. With Julius gone, the kingdom needs someone to fill that role, and fans are eager to find out who it will be.

After Asta and Yuno successfully defeated the main villain with the support of the Clover Kingdom, the future of the series is uncertain. While they could potentially share the role of Wizard King, it’s also possible a more seasoned Knight will be chosen instead. This makes the upcoming finale particularly intriguing, leaving fans wondering how everything will conclude for Asta and his friends.
