It turns out that during Opening Night Live, Game Science didn’t announce the anticipated story DLC for Black Myth: Wukong as many had hoped. Instead, they introduced a new title within the series – Black Myth: Zhong Kui. At this stage, the project is in development and there isn’t any in-game footage available yet. However, you can watch the CG trailer for the announcement below.
The man adorned with a beard and seated upon a tiger is the renowned Zhong Kui, a Taoist character famed for vanquishing spirits and controlling 80,000 demons. Across Chinese tradition, his image has been widely employed as a deterrent against ghostly apparitions. The specifics of his upcoming voyage are yet to unfold, however ONL host Geoff Keighley guaranteed it will be another solo gaming experience.
Intriguingly, he hinted that the journey with Black Myth: Wukong’s Journey of the West was far from complete. There might be a potential reveal of downloadable content (DLC) during The Game Awards in December, although further information is required for confirmation.
For now, the action-packed game titled “Black Myth: Wukong” is set to debut on August 20th, exclusively for Xbox Series X/S users. However, it’s already playable on PS5 and personal computers if you’ve been eager to give it a try.
