The Calamity is Coming

I just read the new description for the final chapter of the Thousand-Year Blood War arc. It sounds incredibly intense! Basically, everything comes down to a confrontation between Yhwach and Squad Zero. Yhwach manages to break through their defenses and enter the Royal Palace, and Ichibe tasks Ichigo and his friends with protecting the Soul King. But here’s the twist – Yhwach deceives Ichigo, leading him to accidentally strike down the Soul King himself. It’s a really shocking turn of events!

The story describes how the Soul King’s death causes the worlds to fall apart, with strange signs of disaster appearing everywhere. The Soul Reapers and the remaining Quincies team up and go to the Royal Palace, only to find it has been taken over by the Wandenreich and turned into a new world called the Wahr Welt. Inside the palace, the Royal Guard awaits them, creating a menacing silhouette against the sky.

For viewers unfamiliar, Bleach: The Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity adapts the final major story arc from Tite Kubo’s Bleach manga, centered around the Soul Society. The manga continued Ichigo’s story years after the battle with Yhwach, but in an unexpected way. In 2021, Kubo released a standalone chapter called Bleach: No Breathes From Hell, set years in the future with the characters all grown up. This chapter introduced a chillingly familiar enemy and hinted at a larger story, but sadly, Kubo hasn’t indicated whether the series will continue with new chapters.
