Bloober Team’s Mysterious Website is Not Counting Down to a Rule of Rose Remake

Bloober Team recently sparked online rumors with a cryptic countdown website, but they’ve confirmed it isn’t related to a remake of the horror game Rule of Rose. The speculation started because the website featured rose imagery, similar to the 2006 game.

A social media user named Radec speculated that Bloober Team might be hinting at a remake of the game Rule of Rose, calling it “insane” if true. However, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno quickly dismissed the rumor, stating on LinkedIn, “Nice guess, but no. It definitely doesn’t refer to any remake.”

The studio isn’t revealing what the countdown on its website is for, but many believe it’s related to Project M, a game Bloober Team first announced in February 2023. This game will be a survival horror title available only on the Nintendo Switch. According to the studio head, Babieno, it will feature a unique new element not seen before in the genre, and is designed specifically for Nintendo’s hardware.

Recently, the website counting down to an unknown event was updated with a strange addition: a distorted recording of a man reading lines from William Blake’s poem, “The Sick Rose.” Along with the audio, a message appeared stating, “Some things never leave the walls. They only learn to wait.” As of today, the countdown timer shows 12 days left.

A new game, likely called “Onyx: The Dark Grip,” has been discovered thanks to a trademark filing in Europe, spotted by Reddit users. The trademark was originally applied for in March 2024 and officially registered in August 2024, with the filing most recently updated in early January.

Bloober Team revealed that the mysterious project they’ve been working on is a remake of the original Silent Hill, with development starting back in October. They also shared that they currently have a separate team handling five other projects at the same time.

So, during an investor Q&A, the studio revealed they’ve got two internal teams working on games right now. One team is actively building a remake of the original Silent Hill, which is awesome! The other team has just kicked off a brand new project. On top of that, they’ve also got five other projects in development with external partners – a lot going on, which is really exciting for us as players!
