Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 Creators Tease Returning Characters With New Update

During the Anime Expo 2025 last weekend, Netflix unveiled fresh information about their upcoming anime projects, and the team behind the popular show Blue Eye Samurai gave fans a glimpse of what to expect in Season 2. Blue Eye Samurai, one of Netflix’s distinctive animated productions from recent years, saw tremendous success with its first season, prompting the streaming service to immediately announce a second season. The enigmatic samurai Mizu embarked on her quest for vengeance in the first season, hinting at a new location yet to be explored in Season 2.

The TV series titled “Blue Eye Samurai” hasn’t disclosed a release date or timeframe for Season 2 as of this writing, but it was among several franchises unveiling fresh updates during Netflix’s panel at Anime Expo 2025 over the weekend, where ComicBook was present. A pre-recorded message from series creators Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, along with executive producer Jane Wu, was played, revealing numerous details about the upcoming season, such as the reappearance of characters believed to have perished in the first season.

Blue Eye Samurai Creators Tease Season 2 at Anime Expo 2025

Initially, Nozumi paved the way for Season 2 of “Blue Eye Samurai” by hinting that Mizu’s quest for revenge continues to be her central focus, even referring to it as her religious pursuit. Green reinforced this idea by suggesting that at least two of Mizu’s targets are expected to be in London, the enchanting location she seeks. Furthermore, Green hinted that when we re-encounter Mizu in the new season, she will be embarking on a dangerous mission, attempting to break into a specific place with the intention of taking someone’s life. Additionally, new images show Mizu brandishing her sword, and Green tantalizes fans by promising to reveal the precise timeline for these scenes within the upcoming season.

In the upcoming season, characters like Swordmaker, Ringo, Taigen, and Akemi will make their reappearance, with producer Jane Wu hinting at the return of some unexpected figures. She added a sense of mystery by stating, “…there are also going to be possibly some people who were believed dead, who might still be alive.” The creative team is eagerly working on enhancing the action scenes with expert stunt work, and fans can look forward to witnessing these improvements. The setup for this new season in London appears to be quite intriguing as these creators prepare for its release.

When Is Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 Coming Out?

As of now, the release date for Season 2 of “Blue Eye Samurai” remains undetermined, however, series co-creator Michael Green shared with ComicBook last year that the team is thrilled about the progress they’ve made on the upcoming episodes. He expressed, “We’re really excited about how it’s shaping up. Things are going great. We have an exceptional group working together, using their skills and expertise to accomplish the impossible once more, and even more so. We’re also celebrating what we did well, and trying some truly innovative and daring new ideas as well.

During our conversation, Green mentioned that they were simultaneously working on the upcoming episodes while dealing with their Emmy Awards nominations (and eventual win for Best Animated Series against shows like X-Men ’97), “In reality, we’re sneaking away from it. As soon as we wrap up this chat, we’ll log in and check our email to see the latest design sketches or early storyboards for our first episode.
