The animated original series titled “Blue Eye Samurai,” which Netflix released in 2023, is widely considered one of their top productions by animation enthusiasts. In fact, few would argue otherwise. Already, a second season has been greenlit, with the creators expressing their ambition to explore Mizu’s tale for years to come. The release date for “Blue Eye Samurai” season two is yet to be announced; however, a recent sneak peek not only offers our first glimpse of the title character’s long-anticipated comeback, it suggests that his return could happen sooner than some anticipate.
Netflix has unveiled a fresh poster for “Blue Eye Samurai” season 2, hinting that the new season will be arriving soon. Given the cliffhanger ending of the first season, fans have been eagerly anticipating this return, as Mizu’s revenge remains unfulfilled. The finale of season 1 saw the protagonist choosing to depart from Japan for London, with the intention of confronting Skeffington and Routely. Although the poster does not provide an exact release date for Mizu’s second-season appearance, it suggests that Netflix is committed to bringing the bloodthirsty samurai back to its platform.

Blue Eye Comeback
At this summer’s Anime Expo, creators Amber Noizumi, Michael Green, and executive producer Jane Wu attended. During their panel discussing Blue Eyed Samurai, Noizumi teased the plot of season two, suggesting that Mizu’s pursuit for revenge continues to be a focal point in her life. Green further revealed that at least two men she intends to kill might reside in the mystical city of London.
In addition to the sneak peek, Nozumi made an intriguing revelation, suggesting that certain characters presumed deceased from the first season could potentially return: “There might even be some individuals who were believed to have perished, but could still be alive.
In a chat with egmr.ru outside Anime Expo, Michael Green mentioned that the creative crew was content with the progress on season two, expressing excitement about its development: “We’re thrilled with how it’s shaping up. It’s going wonderfully! We’ve got an exceptional team pushing their skills and expertise to achieve the impossible once more – and even beyond. We’re also celebrating what we do well, experimenting with some truly wild ideas as well.
In an unexpected twist, the animated series “Blue Eye Samurai” triumphed as the winner of the “Best Animated Series” category at the 2024 Emmy Awards. This victory came as a shock, considering it was up against stiff competition like Disney’s “X-Men ’97.” With plans for future seasons and potential spin-offs underway, Mizu (the creators) may have several opportunities to garner even more accolades in the future.
