Okay, so Koei Tecmo and Gust just announced they’re releasing a collection of the Blue Reflection games, called Blue Reflection Quartet! It’s coming to PlayStation 5, the new Switch 2, regular Switch, and PC via Steam on July 30th. Pretty cool, I’m excited to check it out!
Players in Western regions will only be able to purchase Blue Reflection Quartet digitally. However, physical copies will be available in Japan for both PlayStation 5 and Switch. The standard edition costs 7,480 yen, the Premium Box costs 11,330 yen, and the Special Collection Box costs 24,200 yen. The Premium Box and Special Collection Box will also include a code to download the game on Steam. A digital-only version is also planned for Switch 2. Please note that the Switch 2 and original Switch versions are distinct games and you won’t be able to transfer your saved progress between them.
Here is an overview of the game, via Koei Tecmo:
About
The Blue Reflection series explores the feelings and friendships of young girls through different stories, and features character designs and overall direction by well-known artist Mel Kishida. Blue Reflection Quartet brings all four of these heartfelt stories together in one collection.
The series is now easier to get into thanks to new features, including a closer look at the world it’s set in. This will help new viewers follow the story, while also giving long-time fans a richer experience.
Blue Reflection
This game tells the story of a wounded ballerina who uses magic to connect with people and protect the world from a growing danger. It now features updated, sharper graphics and enhanced visual details like realistic water effects, creating a more immersive experience. A new autosave feature also makes the game more convenient and enjoyable.
Blue Reflection: Ray
This anime follows magical beings called Reflectors who battle each other, driven by their different beliefs and feelings.
This game tells a condensed version of the story, with the major characters rendered in 3D.
Join Hiori and Ruka as they journey through the Common, revisiting cherished memories while heading towards a confrontation with a girl determined to rebuild the world. This installment features new short stories that build upon the anime’s plot, along with a prologue and epilogue that tie it all together with the rest of the series.
Blue Reflection: Sun
This mobile game follows a group of girls navigating a world on the brink of collapse, as they strive to maintain hope for what’s to come.
The story of Sun has been adapted into a console game, built using the gameplay mechanics of Blue Reflection: Second Light to bring the original game’s exciting battles to life. Along with the main storyline, the game features 24 new character-focused events, and its prologue and epilogue tie it into the broader Blue Reflection series.
Blue Reflection: Second Light
I’m really into this new game where you play as a group of girls who wake up with no idea who they are or where they’ve ended up. It’s a wild journey as you explore this weird world with them, and basically, you have to help them figure out their pasts and what’s really going on. It’s all about uncovering their memories and the secrets of the world around them, and it’s surprisingly emotional!
Originally released in October 2021 as part of the Blue Reflection project, this update for Blue Reflection Quartet adds eight playable characters from the games Ray and Sun. These characters, along with Yuzuki and Lime, are also available for use in Photo Mode. The update also includes quality-of-life improvements like faster battles, quicker movement, and the ability to speed up event scenes, making the game more enjoyable.
