Anticipation is building among fans for the upcoming second season of Mark Gatiss’s detective series, “Bookish.” Recently, a lineup of fresh faces as guest stars has been unveiled.
In the upcoming season of this captivating series, I’m thrilled to share that we have some brilliant additions to our ensemble cast. Joining us are Jason Watkins from McDonald & Dodds as Harold Sneed, the esteemed Miranda Richardson from Blackadder gracing us as Duchess Alberta, Simon Callow, a familiar face from Doctor Who, stepping into the role of ‘E’. We also have Rupert Graves, known for his portrayal of Lestrade in Sherlock, taking on Colonel Reggie Winters. Claire Skinner, beloved for her work in Outnumbered, will be playing Mrs Calthrop, and lastly, Youssef Kerkour, a fan favorite from Gavin & Stacey, joining as Yusuf. Can’t wait to see these talents bring their characters to life!
The cast expansion features Ricky Champ from EastEnders playing Kendall, Allan Corduner from Tár portraying Maxie Kleinmann, Liza Sadovy known for Patience assuming the role of Ruth Kleinmann, Oli Fyne recognized in Call the Midwife taking on Hannah Kleinman, Ingrid Oliver famed from The Thursday Murder Club as Liesl Pohl, and John Hopkins well-known for A Very Royal Scandal as Guy Windjammer.
During this new season, several characters from last time will be back, including Rosie Cavaliero (Kaos), Gerard Horan (Belgravia: The Next Chapter), Nadia Albina (A Thousand Blows), and Jonas Nay (The Tattoist of Auschwitz).

They will be part of the main actors on the show along with Gatiss, Polly Walker, Connor Finch, Elliot Levey, Blake Harrison, and Buket Kömür.
Earlier this year, when the program first aired, it turned out to be an enormous success, making it our second-best premier performance at U&Alibi.
In the upcoming season, we find Detective Book delving into the realm of spirituality as he’s tasked with unraveling a baffling mystery surrounding medium Harold Sneed, portrayed by Watkins.
In a building on Savile Row, Bliss requests Book’s assistance with a baffling murder case at a men’s clothing store. The elderly tailor Maxie Kleinmann (Corduner) is eager to admit to the crime, but the evidence seems inconsistent and hints at something far more intricate and ominous instead.
In the winter season, ‘E’ (Callow) sends both Book and Jack to the enchantingly picturesque German village of Würl. Their mission? To stop a cunning Duchess (Richardson) from committing theft. Yet, as they enjoy the holiday festivities, things take a dark turn when Book and Jack start unearthing secrets buried in an eerie castle, filled with potential murder suspects who might have a motive to end their investigation.
The book’s connection to the police remains dangerous, and its unusual marriage between childhood friend Trottie (Walker) complicates when debonair Colonel Winters (Graves) enters the picture. The show blends post-war nostalgia with the daring, life-affirming spirit of the era, making ‘Bookish’ a fashionable detective drama that stands out due to its unique period setting.
