We’re just about to wrap up the story for the supernatural series called “Grim,” written by Stephanie Phillips and illustrated by Flaviano Armentaro. This intriguing series premiered in 2022, featuring Jessica Harrow as its protagonist who finds herself in an unexpected predicament – she’s discovered she’s dead. However, this is just the start of Jessica’s tale. Throughout the story, she’s uncovered details about her heritage, crossed paths with other Reapers, and battled to save the world. With only two issues left, we’re close to the finish line for “Grim.” What awaits us at the end? Before we get there, let’s explore what awaits in the penultimate issue of this captivating series.
Exclusive first glance at issue #24 of “Grim” by Stephanie Phillips, Flaviano Armentaro, and Rico Renzi is provided by ComicBook. Here, a writer named Desmond Pell is seen tirelessly working on his laptop to complete a story when he’s disturbed by a Grim Reaper figure. Desmond hopes to finish his tale before being whisked away to the afterlife, but the Reaper attempts to clarify that such encounters don’t typically unfold this way. “Isn’t the ending significant?” Desmond inquires.
The importance of conclusions is undeniable,” the Grim Reaper replies. “Sadly, though, we seldom get to pen our own final chapters.” This conversation takes a reflective turn as Desmond admits he doesn’t have a spouse or children, and his legacy will be his written work. If he were to die now, there would be no conclusion, making him appear unsuccessful in people’s eyes. It is later revealed that the Grim Reaper was once a writer himself, sharing a common connection with Desmond.
The synopsis for Grim #24 states: “A fresh ruler ascends the Throne, shouldering a duty that appears unwanted by others, which may pave the way for the world to regain tranquility.” However, protagonist Jess finds herself in uncharted territory and must ponder over her next move. More importantly, she needs to consider the role of Time: is it merely a concept or does it represent a person with whom she will interact?
The main uncertainty in the final episode of Grim is if Jessica will assume the role previously held by Death as her replacement. Given that Death is no longer present and Jessica being Death’s daughter, it appears probable that she might step into this position. However, keep in mind that throughout its storyline, Grim has often thrown unexpected twists, so readers should be prepared for the unpredictable.
