Randy Pitchford shared on what was previously Twitter that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be launching Borderlands 4 on October 3rd. Fans are thrilled to know when they can play the game on-the-go, but some also posed questions about the Switch 2 version. Pitchford answered many of these queries, yet some of his responses have left fans concerned regarding Borderlands 4‘s performance on Nintendo Switch 2.
Two crucial points have sparked apprehension among fans of Borderlands 4, regarding its version on the Switch 2. Pitchford clarified that the game would utilize a Game Card, meaning all players, even those with physical copies, will need to download it. Moreover, the team at Gearbox Software announced that the game would run approximately at 30 FPS and may experience occasional frame drops in certain instances.
It’s clear that fans are disheartened, with some deciding not to get Borderlands 4 for the Nintendo Switch 2. While there’s a chance a patch might boost the FPS, the performance of Borderlands 3 and its quality have been used in the past as evidence of Gearbox Software’s support on Nintendo Switch. It’s possible that a performance mode could be introduced later to enhance performance, potentially at the expense of graphics.
In addition to what he verified, Pitchford also hinted at aspects that generated a more enthusiastic response from fans. Specifically, he confirmed that Borderlands 4 would incorporate mouse support and offer four-player local co-op mode. While some may have emphasized the negative points, these features have certainly stirred up excitement among players.
