With the anime series Boruto: Naruto Next Generations concluding in 2023, fans are eager for news about its return. Meanwhile, the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga continues the story, following Naruto’s son years later as he faces a difficult situation. He’s being hunted by both friends and foes, leaving the Hidden Leaf Village with a lot on its plate. A major threat comes from Bug, also known as Mamushi – a surprisingly powerful being who could destroy the ninja world.
Please be aware that the following contains spoilers for Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 32. The Divine Trees have proven to be a compelling threat in the Boruto series, possessing both heroes and villains to further the Otsutsuki clan’s plans. In the case of Mamushi, the Tree took control of Bug, drastically increasing his power. Now, as Mamushi confronts Konoha and Boruto, he’s creating a seemingly endless number of clones, surpassing even Naruto’s famous Shadow Clone technique.
Bug’s Duplication Ability
I’m completely fascinated by Mamushi! Like Kawaki, he’s one of the Divine Trees who can transform, but his ability is truly unique. He can make an unlimited number of clones – seriously, it’s a massive problem for anyone who has to fight him, even an entire village! In the latest chapter of the manga, he created over a thousand clones, and the number just kept growing! It’s amazing and terrifying. Even with Shikimaru, the current Hokage, devising a plan to take him down, things aren’t going quite as expected. It’s a really intense situation!

According to the Hokage, Konoha’s strategy involved Sarada Uchiha helping to reduce the number of clones. Shikimaru explained that they would initially attack with everything they had, and once fewer than 50 clones remained, he would signal a final, powerful attack using a technique called Ohirume – an advanced Uchiha Clan ability unlocked with the Mangekyo Sharingan. However, something unexpected happened, disrupting the plan for reasons that are currently unknown.
The mission starts well, but Sarada collapses while trying to defeat the last of the Bugs. Seeing his opportunity, Mamushi creates multiple copies of himself, becoming a much bigger threat. With Sarada unconscious, the team must come up with a new strategy to stop the villain who can multiply.
