Chicago Fire is adding an actor from Bosch: Legacy to its cast. While many of NBC’s shows are currently on break, production is still happening, including for Chicago Fire. This means fans are getting glimpses of what’s ahead for the team led by Dom Pascal.
The fourteenth season of Chicago Fire began with some significant shifts in the team, as Sam Carver and Daniel Ritter left, and a new member, Sal Vasquez, joined Firehouse 51. While it’s still unclear where Sal’s story will lead, the show has been highlighting his personal journey. The latest fall finale introduced another challenge: budget cuts that put the entire Engine 51 team, led by Mouch, at risk.
A new photo from the set of Chicago Fire season 14, shared by Dermot Multroney (via One Chicago Center), gives us our first look at Max Martini as a Deputy District Chief. He’s wearing the Chicago Fire Department uniform, confirming his role, though his character’s name hasn’t been revealed yet. Martini is known for his work in films like Level 9, The Great Raid, and The Unit. Most recently, he played Detective Don Ellis in the Bosch spin-off Bosch: Legacy on Amazon Freevee.
Chief Boden used to lead Firehouse 51 as Deputy District Chief, but his recent promotion to Deputy Fire Commissioner meant he had to step down from that position. Due to everything that’s happened in Chicago recently, this situation is new territory for the firehouse. It’s hard to predict how the new character, Martini, will affect things at Firehouse 51, as we don’t know much about him yet.
Because of his rank, this character has the power to save or doom Firehouse 51 in season 14 of Chicago Fire. Mouch’s team is facing closure due to budget cuts, which is out of the firefighters’ hands. However, with a Deputy District Chief advocating for them, they have a better chance of convincing officials to keep the squad intact.
Honestly, I’m a little worried about what’s going to happen with Martini. If he turns out to be an enemy of Firehouse 51, things could get really tough for them. For now, though, we all just have to be patient! Chicago Fire is on winter break, but it’ll be back in January, right around the beginning of the new year, in its usual timeslot. I’m already counting down the days!
