Isis Sio is in the hospital after a scary injury.
A 19-year-old boxer is in a medically induced coma after being knocked out in the first round of a match on March 21, according to a statement from ProBox TV.
ProBox TV shared on March 22nd that CEO Garry Jonas and the whole ProBox team are sending their best wishes for a quick recovery to Isis Sio. They are thinking of her and her family during this challenging time and ask everyone to join them in hoping for her full recovery.
Isis, who recently turned professional in September, was fighting Jocelyn Camarillo when she was knocked out after being hit in the head multiple times, according to ESPN. Her professional record currently stands at 1 win and 3 losses.
According to reports, the teenager received immediate medical care after experiencing convulsions as she was carried out of the arena on a stretcher. She is currently being treated at Loma Linda University Health medical center.
Isis’s recent injury happened less than two months after her knockout loss to Perla Bazaldua on January 30th. Boxers usually have a 45 to 60-day medical suspension after a knockout, but because Isis’s fight ended with body shots, she only needed to rest for 30 days.

She explained that she was simply caught up in the moment, feeling a mix of pride and excitement. It wasn’t intentional disrespect or poor sportsmanship, she said, just a natural reaction. As soon as she realized what had happened, her focus immediately changed to the other athlete’s well-being. She emphasized that anyone who knows her would agree she wouldn’t intentionally cause harm or be malicious.
I’m constantly evolving, both as an athlete and as an individual dealing with public attention during challenging times,” she said. “I have a lot of respect for Isis Sio.
Following the news of Isis injury, Jocelyn took to social media to express her well wishes.
In a recent Instagram post on March 23rd, she expressed her relief that her opponent was safe. She emphasized that she would never want to see anyone she competes against get hurt, acknowledging the inherent dangers of the sport and the risks all fighters take.
As a huge fan of empowering stories, I was so impressed with Jocelyn’s fight! Not only did she win against Isis, but it was her first knockout victory – a real milestone! Afterwards, she graciously shared what the whole experience meant to her, which I always appreciate from an athlete.
She explained that she was simply caught up in the moment and overwhelmed with feelings. She felt proud and excited, and her initial reaction wasn’t intended to be disrespectful at all. As soon as she realized what had happened, her focus immediately shifted to the other athlete’s well-being. She emphasized that those who know her understand she would never intentionally act with malice.
She explained she’s still developing, both as an athlete and as an individual dealing with public attention during challenging times. She also expressed her respect for Isis Sio.
