Brad Pitt didn’t necessarily have the breeziest start to his Hollywood career.
Initially, the two-time Academy Award recipient was relatively unknown, but he made his mark by appearing in lesser-known independent films, one of which left him with an unpleasant recollection.
On the July 2 episode of Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, Brad mentioned that we were filming in a small café, packed with about 60 crew members. It was sweltering, cramped, and my character hadn’t eaten for days; but then he was served a large platter of beans and bacon.
In his own words, at 61 years old, he decided to immerse himself deeply into the character, adopting a method-acting technique for that particular scene.
He said, “I made up my mind to get it right,” continuing on. “I ate a full platter of beans, then took another two and repeated the process. I did the same with the third plate. Even with the fourth, I followed the same routine.
Then, all of a sudden, Brad recalled, “Something hit me.”
He expressed that he was helpless and confined to the chair, allowing events to unfold as they would. Later, he remarked casually, ‘Well, it seems I’ve managed to get out of this situation.’
But moments after Brad thought he scooted the toot, he realized he had celebrated too soon.
All of a sudden, the worst thing imaginable appeared in the entire room, causing the team to quickly leave the café,” he explained.
Learning from his stinky, bean-inducing surprise, he shared, “Ever since then I pace myself.”
Even though Brad can chuckle about the memory today, it wasn’t just this incident from the start of his career that was less than pleasant. In reality, following his debut in a 1987 episode of the soap opera “Another World,” where he had his first speaking role, he encountered another embarrassing situation.
He shared with Travis and Jason that his photo had been published in the USA Today, which was quite an accomplishment for him. He also sent the news to his parents, excitedly saying, ‘Check this out, Mom and Dad! I’ve been featured!’
I was out with a friend, who had feelings for a girl living with a few others. He led us to their apartment, taking us through the kitchen towards the back door. Upon reaching the door, he glanced at the litter box and noticed a photograph adorned with a large cat’s fecal matter.
