As a huge movie fan, I’m absolutely loving this Brendan Fraser comeback! It’s been amazing watching him return to form after a while away. I first noticed him popping up on shows like Titans and Doom Patrol, but then he really blew everyone away with a string of fantastic films, culminating in his Oscar win for The Whale. And it just keeps getting better! Last year we got Rental Family, and he’s got a new war movie, Pressure, coming up where he’s playing Dwight D. Eisenhower! But honestly, the biggest news for me is the potential return of The Mummy! They’re bringing the franchise to HBO Max, and a fourth film is reportedly coming in 2028. As a longtime fan, April is already shaping up to be an awesome month, and I can’t wait to see what he does next!
Starting April 1st, you can stream the first three Mummy movies – The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor – on HBO Max. Many fans consider the original 1999 film, The Mummy, a classic, and Brendan Fraser’s performance as adventurer Rick O’Connell is still hugely popular. Fans are excited to revisit his iconic role.
Despite Not Being Out For 2 Years, Fans Are Already Hyped for The Mummy 4
Ever since it was announced last fall, fans have been eagerly anticipating the new Mummy film, especially with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz returning. Although the sequels to the original Mummy weren’t as popular, the franchise has remained beloved, building excitement for a fourth movie. The film is being directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet, the team behind the successful Scream revival and the 2019 horror-comedy Ready or Not. This combination of factors suggests The Mummy 4 could be a major box office hit when it’s released on May 19, 2028 – a prime date right in the middle of the summer movie season.
Okay, so we’re still a ways off from The Mummy 4 – like, two years! – and there’s so much we don’t know yet. But as a big fan, I’m definitely excited about the potential! It’s got that classic nostalgia and hopefully will bring back some characters we love. But let’s be real, it’s going to live or die by how good the story is. To get us through the wait, it’s awesome that the first three movies are coming to HBO Max! The Mummy Returns is even getting a special 25th-anniversary showing in theaters on March 27th, which is so cool. And if you miss it there, you can just stream it a few days later – perfect timing, honestly!
The first three films in The Mummy franchise arrive on HBO Max April 1st.
