Brett Goldstein, known for his role as Roy Kent in the Apple TV+ hit Ted Lasso and a three-time Emmy nominee, first showed his softer side with his on-screen romance with Juno Temple. Now, he’s taking the lead in a new romantic movie for the streaming service called All of You. The trailer revealed some strong chemistry with co-star Imogen Poots, and Goldstein is now discussing filming the movie’s intimate scenes. Surprisingly, he revealed that rotten vegetables were involved during the shoot!
I was immediately hooked by the first glimpse of the new movie, *All of You*, and added it to my watchlist. Brett Goldstein stars in, co-wrote, and co-produced the film, playing a man who begins a connection with his best friend, but a matchmaking test complicates things by finding her a potential soulmate.
Before the movie comes out in 2025, the actor discussed the film’s romantic story and filming intimate scenes with Imogen Poots on CBS Mornings. He admitted the scenes weren’t romantic to shoot, and surprisingly, they were also unpleasant due to the filming location, as he explained.
It’s amusing because the film includes some intimate scenes, one of which is quite passionate. However, the actual filming of that scene was far from glamorous. We were in a late-night, decaying fruit and vegetable market, hidden behind a curtain while the entire crew waited on the other side. So, we were trying to create this sensual moment while surrounded by the smell of rotting produce! And then, as the scene ended, the curtain dropped and everyone applauded.
Just thinking about it makes me shudder. A sex scene is meant to feel passionate, but the smell of bad vegetables would instantly ruin the moment. It really shows how different things can be behind the scenes – what looks alluring on camera can be completely unromantic in reality.
As a movie lover, I always find it interesting to remember that those intimate scenes aren’t spontaneous – they’re actually carefully planned and choreographed, almost like a dance. Sometimes the process is really precise, and other times, well, it can be pretty awkward! Sydney Sweeney talked about filming a shower scene for *Anyone But You* with a whole crew of forty people watching – can you imagine? It’s like being a goldfish in a bowl, with everyone staring at you. It really puts things into perspective!
Similar criticism arose regarding an intimate scene with Margot Robbie in *The Wolf of Wall Street*. She had to act as if she was touching herself while the entire crew – all men – were present. Despite this potentially awkward situation, skillful directing, editing, and acting resulted in a scene that appears natural and passionate to viewers.
Considering the challenging setting – a room full of rotting vegetables – Brett Goldstein and Imogen Poots did a fantastic job portraying intimacy and passion. Their ability to convey attraction despite the unpleasant smell is a testament to their acting skills. I’m now eagerly anticipating the full series, All of You, which will be available on Apple TV+ starting September 26th.
