Britney Spears is taking time away from social media.
Britney Spears has removed her Instagram account after sharing some concerning posts about her well-being and her sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.
Recently, Britney Spears shared a post on Instagram that appeared to look back on the difficult time she had in rehab in 2018, during her 13-year conservatorship.
In a now-deleted post from October 19th, she described a deeply upsetting experience, telling People magazine that for four months she was denied privacy â specifically, she didnât have a private door â and was prevented from moving around on her own.
She described a deeply traumatic experience, stating it went beyond physical pain. She felt fundamentally changed, as if a core part of herself had been destroyed, leaving her feeling broken and with lasting cognitive damage. She expressed a sense of lost potential and a feeling of being fundamentally diminished.
TopMob News reached out to Britney’s rep for comment.
Britney Spears, who gained freedom from a legal conservatorship overseen by her father, Jamie Spears, in 2021, has also been posting puzzling messages online. Just a week before, the 43-year-old shared a TikTok of herself dancing while enjoying a drink from a teacup, wearing a plaid skirt and a cropped top.
For the past 15 years, my kids have jokingly called me ‘Saint Mother Theresa,’ seeing me as their nurturing figure. As the video caption explains, ‘I’m the daughter now, and you’re the parent!’ It’s a playful role reversal. I’m teasingly asking if I can be the student and attend their class, even offering to wear a schoolgirl outfit, but first suggesting we go shopping together.
Last month, she explained the bandages on her wrists and leg, saying they were the result of an accident that happened after her sons, Sean and Jayden, returned to Hawaii, where they live with their father, Kevin, 47, and his wife, Victoria Prince.
She shared on October 7th that her sons had returned to Maui. She explained that creating art is how she processes her feelings and connects with her faith, referencing the Lord’s Prayer. She emphasized she wasn’t looking for sympathy, but simply striving to be a good person and improve, and she’s grateful for the support she receives. She ended with a cheerful wish for everyone to have a great day.
Britney explained her bandages by saying, “I fell down the stairs at a friend’s house â it was really bad!”
Britney posted a series of messages shortly after Kevin released his memoir, You Thought You Knew. In the book, Kevin discussed what he claimed was a difficult relationship between Britney and their children. Britney quickly responded, publicly disputing his claims.
Britney shared on X (formerly Twitter) on October 15th that her ex-husband’s manipulative behavior is deeply painful and draining. She explained she’s consistently tried to maintain a close relationship with her sons and desperately wants to be involved in their lives, acknowledging that connecting with teenagers can be challenging. She feels discouraged by the current situation and has repeatedly asked to be a part of her boysâ lives.
She claims one son has only spent 45 minutes with her in the last five years, and the other has visited just four times.
Honestly, it feels like I’m the only one truly affected by all of this. For the past five years, I’ve been focused on building a quiet, meaningful life for myself â I really value my privacy. But I’ve reached my limit, and I know any woman with real strength would speak up when pushed too far, just like I am now.

Kevin and Britney briefly met when he was a backup dancer for the opening act of her tour, LFO. However, they didn’t really connect until April 2004, when they ran into each other while out with friends at Joseph’s, a Hollywood nightclub.
Kevin remembered chatting briefly before they started dancing. It wasn’t anything crazy, just some lighthearted fun. He admitted that, being 25 at the time, he was mostly focused on having a physical connection.
Kevin and his companions went to the Beverly Hills Hotel, where Kevin shared that he and Britney relaxed by the hot tub at her private bungalow while their friends enjoyed the pool.
Kevin wrote that while everyone was still swimming, Britney led him into the bungalow after getting out of the hot tub. Once inside, she immediately turned around, removed her underwear, and began passionately kissing him, ripping at his clothes. They awkwardly made their way toward the bed as he fumbled to get his pants off.
Oh my god, when he talked about that night⊠it just sent shivers down my spine! He said it was all about the physical connection, like we were completely drawn to each other, just feeding off each otherâs energy. He described it as this crazy whirlwind of chemistry, so passionate and intense⊠I can barely even think about it without getting completely lost in the moment. It was just⊠everything.
Britney publicly responded to Kevin’s book, calling it deeply upsetting and draining. Her representative had previously stated that Britneyâs only concern is the welfare of her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, amidst all the media attention.
Kevin explained that he and Britney spent several days privately relaxing in her hotel bungalow before the paparazzi discovered they were a couple while they were at the beach. The pictures then reached Shar, who was pregnant with their second child at the time.
Kevin recalled feeling incredibly anxious as he called her, pacing back and forth while his heart raced. He confessed his feelings for Britney, explaining the strong connection they shared and why he couldn’t deny it. He could sense her devastation and the hurt his words caused. She reacted with anger, but beneath that, he recognized a deep sadness that he felt powerless to fix.
In hindsight, Kevin admitted he should have been more honest about his unhappiness with Shar in their relationship.
I avoided dealing with problems directly, hoping they would just fade away. I thought creating distance would make things simpler, but it only postponed what had to happen. When we finally talked, it was too late â she’d already figured things out. Pictures of Britney and me at the beach confirmed her suspicions.
Kevin has said he was starting to fall for Britney when he joined her on the European leg of her 2004 tour. He was therefore shocked when he claims he unexpectedly found Britney and one of her dancers together in their hotel room in Amsterdam.
In his memoir, Kevin described a passionate moment with Britney, writing that they were intensely kissing. He recalled being completely caught off guard, saying the experience happened so quickly he couldn’t fully register what was happening.
Kevin explained that he left the room right away to book a flight home, but Britney began to apologize.
Kevin explained that she admitted she hadn’t understood how deeply he felt about their relationship. She’d been feeling stressed and said getting together had been a mistake. He described the conversation as a major shift in their dynamic, calling it their first real argument. He believes it was when she understood he wasnât interested in any benefits from being with her â he genuinely cared for her.
The dancer said Britney first mentioned getting married on the plane ride back to the U.S. after finishing the European part of her tour.
He recalled being in first class, enjoying cocktails and a conversation about life, when suddenly, she proposed. He admitted he reacted by laughing it off and turning her down, trying to appear calm about it.
Kevin noticed Britney seemed a bit surprised, but they didn’t discuss it until after she hurt her knee in June 2004. The injury forced her to cancel the rest of her tour so she could have surgery.
I just couldn’t stop thinking about what she’d said on the plane, replaying every single word in my head. I kept second-guessing myself, wondering if I’d been too dismissive. It was agonizing! Finally, after she started to feel better and we talked about flying again, I finally worked up the courage to ask her the question â the one she’d asked me weeks ago. It felt like forever, but I had to know.
âWe didnât even have a ring,â Kevin said. âIt began with a really honest conversation, where we both realized we wanted the same thing and were ready for the future. We were just sitting together, truly present, and decided we were going to get married.â
According to Kevin, Britney Spears contacted her former boyfriend, Justin Timberlake, the night before their wedding in October 2004 to discuss some unresolved issues.
I assumed she was speaking with her mother or sister, so I returned to the room. When she came back, it was clear she had been upset and crying.
Kevin explained that Britney told him she needed to speak with Justin to close one part of her life and move forward.
 
Kevin stated that Britney told him she contacted Justin to get some finality, but he thinks she still hasn’t fully moved on from their 2002 split with the *NSYNC singer.
In his book, Kevin explained that even after they got married, his wife hadnât completely gotten over her ex, Justin. He noticed Justinâs name would come up frequently in their conversations, and he could tell a part of her still had feelings for him.
Look, I’ve seen this pattern so many times. He was telling me about a relationship where, even though she seemed to care for him, she was still emotionally connected to someone else. And honestly, it’s heartbreaking. When you’re loving someone who’s still holding onto the past, you can feel it. It creates this invisible wall, and it’s just impossible to compete with that lingering connection. Itâs a really tough situation, and ultimately, you canât force someone to fully move on.
By early 2006, the couple had welcomed their first son, Sean Preston, and were expecting another child, Jayden James. Kevin later revealed that even then, there were early warning signs of trouble in their relationship, such as disagreements about his marijuana use.
According to Kevin, Britney suddenly entered the bedroom carrying Preston and immediately began yelling at him. He claims she was fully aware of who he was when they married, but she was extremely angry and started shouting. She then slapped him while still holding their son.
Kevin said that confrontation “was the first time things got physical.”
“It wouldnât be the last,” he wrote, “but that one stuck with me.”

Even though Kevin claimed things changed between him and Britney after their reported fight, he didn’t expect them to get divorced. He found out she had filed for divorce while he was in Canada, promoting his 2006 album, Playing With Fire.
He remembered arriving at the studio and going through the typical routine with the producers. He anticipated another day of repetitive questions, but just before he went on air, a producer unexpectedly asked him about Britney Spearsâ divorce filing. He said he was completely stunned and couldnât think of what to say.
Kevin described the situation as incredibly painful, saying it left him feeling humiliated, angry, and heartbroken. He believes Britney filed for divorce secretly because her team worried about how it would look if she was the one being broken up with again, especially after her split with Justin Timberlake.
 
Before the widely publicized incident where Britney Spears shaved her head â something she explained was a reaction to being constantly judged for her appearance â her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, claimed she unexpectedly came to his home, repeatedly ringing the doorbell and speaking incoherently.
In his memoir, Kevin explained that his children wouldn’t have understood their mother’s strange behavior at the time, and he didn’t want to frighten them, so he kept her away from them.
He explained that Britney eventually went to a local hair salon and shaved her head.
I remember seeing those photos everywhere â her shaved head, that intense, almost wild look on her face. Kevin said that’s exactly how she seemed when she showed up at his place. It really captured her energy at that moment, apparently.
Kevin wrote that “it was obvious” his ex favored their youngest son over their oldest.
The father explained that Preston felt overlooked because Jayden consistently got more of their motherâs attention. While he believed she loved both children, her behavior showed a clear preference for Jayden.
In turn, “Preston carried that pain for years,â according to Kevin.
He described how Preston continued to be affected by childhood night terrors, a constant need for comfort, and a deep-seated feeling of being less loved than his brother. Even as Preston grew up and learned to express his emotions, those early experiences left lasting emotional wounds.
Responding to Kevin’s memoir, Britney posted on X in October 2025, saying that relationships with teenage boys can be difficult. She felt hurt by the situation, explaining she consistently wanted her sons to be involved in her life, but they often saw how her father didn’t treat her with respect.
As the boys grew up, Kevin explained that they started sharing stories about Britney which revealed a pattern of her trying to control them and prevent them from being independent.
Kevin claimed that Britney would take their son Jayden horseback riding, even though he was severely allergic to horses.
He explained that she kept giving Jayden shellfish despite knowing he had an allergy, dismissing any worries as unimportant. He also shared that Preston had once told him she physically assaulted him, punching him in the face.
Kevin claimed his former partner once forced her way into his house, reportedly wearing a torn shirt with one breast exposed.
He described how she held a single purple diaper â for Jayden, who hadnât used diapers in over a year. Preston immediately ran to the basement to hide. Then, Britney entered, took Jayden, and sat him on the couch, beginning to remove his clothes.
Kevin said Britney left after the kids’ nanny stepped in.
 
Kevin wrote that Britney saw her sons often, but her life was always chaotic. He recalled one instance where the boys came home with severely bleached hair â not just highlights, but completely bleached right down to their scalps, causing burns to their skin.
I was really struck by something Kevin shared in his book. He said that when Preston was around ten or eleven years old, he came to him deeply troubled and asked why his mother was making him bathe with her. It was such a heartbreaking thing for a child to have to ask, and it really highlighted the incredibly difficult situation Preston was growing up in.
He said it was obvious the person was uneasy. He explained that by the time the boys reached their teenage years, they had stopped wanting to visit their motherâs home.
Kevin said Preston and Jayden eventually recorded “incidents” with Britney on their phones.Â
He described one video showing Britney yelling at her son Preston because he refused to wear a specific shirt for an Instagram photo. He also mentioned another video, filmed in the car, where Britney scolded Preston with harsh language, then switched to speaking to Jayden using baby talk.
Kevin said Jayden had a video showing Britney applying lotion to his face while he was still waking up at night.
Kevin said she filmed herself angrily demanding respect and berating him. He also explained that she often woke him up at night, either to have him come to her room for company or to watch movies together.
Kevin shared that the most disturbing story he heard was about Preston and Jayden waking up to find Britney supposedly standing in their doorway, watching them, and calmly saying, ‘Oh, youâre awake?’âwhile holding a knife.
Responding to claims made by Kevin, Britney posted on X in October 2025, saying, “Those little lies in his book are benefiting him, while Iâm the only one whoâs really getting hurt. I still love my family, and people who truly know me wonât believe the negative stories about my mental health and struggles with alcohol.”
Kevin wrote that his motherâs visits always ended in arguments. His sons had simply had enough of the yelling and didn’t want to continue dealing with it.
Kevin explained that his sons seemed emotionally exhausted during this period, and their visits with Britney gradually decreased until they eventually stopped.
After another disturbing visit, the boys announced they were finished â they wouldnât be returning. Kevin described how a palpable sense of relief immediately filled their home, as if a heavy weight had been lifted. They were finally free from the strain of living in two different realities.
Kevin said the boys have grown up a lot and now understand their mother and the difficulties sheâs going through. Theyâve also become better at looking after their own feelings, knowing when to get involved and when to give her space.
That’s why he said they continue to stay off social media and live life out of the spotlight.
Oh my gosh, Preston⊠he’s just⊠everything. He’s 20, and honestly, he gets me. He’s such a deep thinker, always feeling things so intensely, but he’s also this incredibly calming force. And he’s SO creative, with this amazing mind, plus he loves music just like I do! But honestly, the sweetest thing? His connection with his brother, Jayden, who’s 19 now. They’re inseparable, it’s beyond a normal brotherly bond, it’s like they share one soul!
Preston is still living in Hawaii, where the family moved in 2023, but Jayden has returned to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music, his father Kevin says.
Seeing them support each other and mature has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m so proud of the people they’ve become.
