Bungo Stray Dogs Releases Official Statement Following Hilarious Controversy

While Bungo Stray Dogs isn’t as widely known as other anime from Studio BONES like My Hero Academia and Fullmetal Alchemist, it’s definitely built a dedicated following. Since the anime adaptation began in 2016, the series about the Armed Detective Agency has expanded with multiple seasons and even spin-offs. A new, comedic version of the action-packed show is scheduled to return this summer, but Bungo Stray Dogs is already grabbing attention. The anime’s official social media recently posted a funny request, asking fans to refrain from a particularly amusing activity.

I’ve noticed that one of the coolest things about Bungo Stray Dogs is how its characters are named after famous Japanese authors and writers. It’s a really neat way to connect the series to literature! However, the creators have recently asked fans to be mindful when discussing these characters. They’ve pointed out that sometimes fans will say things that could be seen as disrespectful to the real authors, or to people who genuinely admire their work. They’ve put out a message asking everyone to be considerate and avoid language that could be hurtful, as a big part of the show’s goal is to introduce people to these writers and their legacies.

The Stray Dogs Are Coming

After the end of season five, a lot of anime fans, myself included, have been wondering if Bungo Stray Dogs would get another season. While a sixth season hasn’t been officially announced yet, we are getting something this summer: the return of the funny spin-off series, Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! This side story started as a manga back in 2015, and it’s much more lighthearted than the main series. Interestingly, new chapters are still being released even now. Wan is scheduled to come back in July, and Studio BONES is animating it, focusing on the more comedic side of the Armed Detective Agency. It’s worth noting that this spin-off was created by Neco Kanai, who wasn’t involved with the original Bungo Stray Dogs – that one was the work of creator Kafka Asagiri, who came up with the ADA in the first place.

The future of Bungo Stray Dogs’ main story is currently unknown for both the anime and manga. The manga artist, Kafka, has been on break, and the anime recently celebrated its tenth anniversary. Despite the uncertainty, many fans are eagerly awaiting the continuation of the main storyline.
