Hard to believe, but we’re only about three months from Christmas now, which means the traditional lineup of holiday TV shows is just around the corner!
This year, similar to last, we are expecting not just one, but two exclusive Call the Midwife episodes from the BBC. The talented cast has hinted that these new episodes will venture into uncharted territories for the cherished series.
During the process, they were inquired about this year’s Christmas specials. Patrick Turner, who plays Stephen McGann, hinted that “it’ll get hot,” while Thomas alluded to both snowfall and perspiration being equally prevalent.
Additionally, one particular Christmas special has always made me chuckle, McGann mentioned. ‘In this Christmas special, there are dramatic elements, as usual, but there’s also a unique moment that occurs, and though I can’t reveal it, it’s absolutely hilarious,’ he added.

Shelagh Turner’s lead actress, Laura Main, remarked that the specials explore uncharted grounds, encompassing both physical locations within Poplar and the events that unfold there.
“It’s absolutely new ground,” she said.
Thomas remarked, “One aspect that particularly appeals to me is that Christmas of 1971 stands out vividly in my memory, as I was born in ’62. It might have been the height of the Christmas season for me at nine years old. This nostalgic period brings back memories of the ’70s Christmases, yet it carries a delightful and varied charm.”
In addition to other events, we acknowledge Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, as well as the Chinese celebrations from Hong Kong. This makes the entire experience incredibly diverse and vibrant.
The area is quite diverse, encompassing more than one community. During the coldest seasons, people come together to produce a radiant spectacle from the gloom, making it a truly heartwarming sight.
At the NTAs red carpet event, McGann shared with TopMob that there’s a lot of exciting change ahead for fans. Not only can they anticipate the Christmas specials, but also season 15 next year, an upcoming prequel series, and a movie set abroad in 1972.
