Capcom is removing one of its popular RPGs from sale, but it’s not a widespread removal. Over the last few years, particularly with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, Capcom has been one of the strongest developers and publishers in the gaming industry. They’ve consistently delivered great games, whether it’s through ongoing success with Resident Evil, the growth of the Monster Hunter series, new titles like Pragmata, or bringing older franchises like Dragon’s Dogma back to life. It’s been a remarkably successful period for them, with one hit game following another.
Capcom brought back the popular Dragon’s Dogma series in 2024 with the release of Dragon’s Dogma 2, after a 12-year hiatus. While the future of the series remains uncertain, Capcom recently announced Dragon’s Dogma II: Dark Arisen, a package that includes both the main game and its expansion. This version will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X on October 9th. Ahead of the release, Capcom will be removing the Deluxe Edition of the game and certain downloadable content on June 24th at 8 PM Eastern Time.
What’s Being Delisted
The following downloadable content for Dragon’s Dogma 2 will soon be removed: the Deluxe Edition, A Boon for Adventurers – New Journey Pack, Harpysnare Smoke Beacons, Heartfelt Pendant, Ambivalent Rift Incense, Makeshift Gaol Key, Art of Metamorphosis, Portcrystal, Wakestone, 500 Rift Crystals, 1500 Rift Crystals, and 2500 Rift Crystals. After this change, only the standard game version, the Explorer’s Camping Kit, and the Dragon Dogma Music & Sound Collection will be available for download. The standard version of the game will also be permanently discounted.
Anyone who already owns the games before they’re removed will still be able to play them, but they won’t be available for purchase after the deadline. It’s not clear why Capcom is waiting so long – months, in fact – between removing these titles and releasing Dragon’s Dogma II: Dark Arisen. We don’t know the reason for this gap.
