A reliable source at Capcom has revealed some disappointing news for fans hoping for a remake of *Resident Evil 5*. After the successful release of the *Resident Evil 4 Remake*, many assumed *Resident Evil 5* would be next. However, a new report suggests Capcom has no plans to remake the 2009 game.
According to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Dusk Golem, the next *Resident Evil* remake will be *Resident Evil Zero*, followed by *Resident Evil Code: Veronica*. The *Zero* remake is reportedly planned for 2027, meaning a remake of *Resident Evil 5* wouldn’t likely arrive until the 2030s, if it happens at all. While Capcom isn’t currently prioritizing a *Resident Evil 5* remake, the insider believes it will eventually be made.
Expanded Wesker Role
The source believes a remake of *Resident Evil 5* is likely because both the *Code Veronica* and *Zero* remakes are giving Wesker a bigger role than he had in the original games. This is building excitement for a potential *Resident Evil 5* remake. While *Resident Evil 5* isn’t the most popular game, it’s generally better regarded than *Resident Evil 6*.
According to Dusk Golem, Capcom isn’t currently planning a *Resident Evil 5* remake, but he thinks it’s inevitable. He predicts that after the releases of the *Code Veronica* and *Zero* remakes—which will both feature more of Wesker and introduce a new version of Chris Redfield—fan demand for a *Resident Evil 5* reimagining will grow. This increased demand, he believes, will eventually lead Capcom to start development, likely by finding a director and producer to lead the project.
Keep in mind this isn’t confirmed, but the source has a strong track record with *Resident Evil* news. Also, this aligns with earlier reports about *Resident Evil 5*, which indicated the game was still a ways off from release.
