Capybara Games is creating Find Your Words, a brief adventure game where you play as a child at summer camp who learns to communicate without speaking. The game will be released for PC on Steam in 2026 and will be free to play, with an optional paid version for those who want to support the developers.
According to co-creator Jon Maur, the goal was to highlight how people communicate differently and let players try out a simpler version of a communication aid commonly used by those with communication challenges.
Vic Nyugen, one of the game’s creators, explained that the game is designed to be cheerful and highlight the happiness found in everyday moments and building relationships. Players will explore the world and solve puzzles, and the core idea is to show how people connect with each other in ways that go beyond just talking.

Here is an overview of the game, via Capybara Games:
In Find Your Words, players experience a heartwarming adventure as a child at summer camp who is learning to communicate without speaking. You’ll explore a vibrant world and discover new ways to express yourself.
Explore beautiful campgrounds filled with wildlife and build friendships as you play. As you discover the game’s world, you’ll collect symbols that let you communicate in unique ways and unlock new things to do. The more you connect with your camp friends, the more you’ll learn about their charming personalities.
“Find Your Words” is a free resource created by parents who wanted to support their children in expressing themselves.
Jon Maur and Vic Nguyen, both experienced developers at Capybara Games and fathers themselves, created Find Your Words. The game is inspired by their experiences raising children who don’t speak, and it offers a glimpse into how these children – and others like them – experience and interact with the world.
Jon Maur was the lead programmer, writer, and designer for Find Your Words. He’s also contributed to popular games like Grindstone, Below, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery, and Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes.
Vic was the creative lead for the art, visuals, and design of Find Your Words. He’s also contributed to popular games like Grindstone, Super Time Force Ultra, Sound Shapes, and Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes.
With a total of 30 years working at Capybara Games, the creators of Find Your Words want players to explore different ways people connect with each other, beyond just talking.
