Cartoon Network Star Breaks Silence on Returning for Revival: “Didn’t Want to Ruin”

A revival of a popular Cartoon Network series is in the works, and one of the show’s stars has shared that they were careful not to change the meaning of the original finale. Cartoon Network is planning to bring back several of its classic shows, and some are expected to premiere soon. While details about the Regular Show revival are still emerging, those involved have hinted that it will arrive on screen before too long.

A revival of Regular Show is in development with original creator J.G. Quintel at the helm, and fans are eager to see what comes next, especially considering the original series had a definitive ending. William Salyers, who voiced Rigby, recently shared his initial concerns about returning for the revival during Emerald City Comic Con, as reported by Popverse. The original series uniquely concluded the story arc for its main characters, Mordecai and Rigby.

Regular Show Star Worries Over Ruining Original Ending With Revival

I was at the Emerald City Comic Con panel for Regular Show, and J.G. Quintel was pretty tight-lipped about the revival. He joked he hadn’t even been asked to participate! But he eventually explained his biggest worry with the new show stemmed from how the original series ended. He said fans had actually voiced the same concern to him, and it was something he’d been thinking about even before he knew anything about the revival plans. Basically, he wanted to make sure the new show respected what came before.

Honestly, I was really worried about messing up what I considered to be one of the greatest series finales ever, especially since I was involved with the show. My first thought was how perfectly the actors wrapped things up, and I desperately hoped that wouldn’t be undone. And, thankfully, it seems like it hasn’t been! There’s been talk about a new series called Regular Show: Lost Tapes, but Cartoon Network hasn’t officially said anything about its progress yet.

What We Know About New Regular Show Revival

The upcoming revival of Regular Show, currently titled Regular Show: Lost Tapes, is expected to launch in Europe and Latin America this May. As the release date gets closer, fans are starting to question if the show will actually arrive then. While details and promotional content haven’t been released yet, members of the voice cast have hinted at their involvement, suggesting a premiere is likely happening soon.

At Emerald City Comic Con, Salyers hinted at his work on the project, confirming that Regular Show is back with new adventures for Mordecai and Rigby. Importantly, this revival doesn’t ignore the events of the original series’ finale, which is great news for fans who loved the show. It’s a promising start for the continuation of the beloved animated series.
