Todd Phillips is saying goodbye to the DC Universe. The director of “Joker: Folie à Deux” and the first DC Films production, the 2019 “Joker” which grossed $1 billion worldwide and earned him a Best Director nomination, has announced that there will be no “Joker 3”. Phillips stated to The Hollywood Reporter that “This movie isn’t really where this story is going for me. I feel like my time in the DC Universe was these two films.” In other words, he doesn’t plan to make another film about Arthur Fleck (played by Joaquin Phoenix) and his love interest, Lee (better known as Harley Quinn, played by Lady Gaga).

A new Ryan Murphy series titled “The Beauty” is set to air on FX, drawing inspiration from comic books. According to Deadline, the show is a adaptation of the 2016 Image Comics title by the same name. This upcoming series falls under Murphy’s overall deal with Disney and will feature frequent collaborator Evan Peters, Anthony Ramos, Jeremy Pope, and Ashton Kutcher in leading roles. Additionally, Peters, Ramos, and Pope will serve as executive producers. Murphy himself is set to write and executive produce the series along with Matt Hodgson. Production for the first season, consisting of 11 episodes, is slated to start this fall, though specific character details have yet to be disclosed.
