A DC fan recently asked James Gunn on Threads if Detective Chimp, a quirky and funny character, might appear in a live-action movie. Given Gunn’s track record with animal characters like Krypto, Eagly, and Rocket Raccoon, the question felt natural. Tron: Ares is predicted to make around $44 million in its first weekend in the US, according to Deadline. This is nearly the same amount as the original Tron: Legacy earned when it came out in 2010 (just over $44 million), potentially making Ares have the biggest opening weekend of any film in the Tron series. The very first Tron movie, released in 1982, opened with $4.7 million domestically.
