We’re really looking forward to the new update for Assassin’s Creed Unity. Tomorrow, Xbox Series X/S and PS5 players will get a version running at a smooth 60 frames per second, which should make experiencing Arno’s adventures during the French Revolution feel brand new. If it’s similar to the update for Syndicate, it’s going to be amazing – Arno moves with incredible speed and grace as he navigates the rooftops.
Jonathan Dumont, the content director for the Assassin’s Creed series, recently became the creative director of the new game following Clint Hocking’s exit. He shared that the game is being carefully developed by the experienced team at Ubisoft Montreal, and promised a distinctive, more mature, story-focused Assassin’s Creed adventure set during a crucial historical period.
This weekend, director Maggie Gyllenhaal is releasing a bold new take on the classic Bride of Frankenstein. The film is a fast-paced, imaginative experience that blends elements of gangster movies, classic Hollywood glamour, and punk rock. At its heart is Jessie Buckley’s energetic and captivating performance as the Bride, who handles everything the film throws at her with remarkable energy.
The show “The Life of the Stars” features theatrical healing after a difficult event. Interestingly, thanks to research consultant Jörg Hildebrand, who shared images online, fans discovered three pages of a Klingon translation of Hamlet appearing in an episode. This is a clever callback to a joke from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, made over thirty years ago, suggesting that you haven’t truly understood Shakespeare until you’ve read it in Klingon.
The huge success of the 1977 film Star Wars quickly led other studios to start making their own large-scale science fiction movies, hoping to attract similar audiences. These films tried to copy the look and storytelling of Star Wars, featuring characters like brave young heroes, charming smugglers, and powerful, evil empires. But despite varying levels of critical and commercial success, none of these copycats managed to become as popular, influential, or long-lasting as the original.
Early numbers suggest the new Pixar film, Hoppers, will have a successful opening weekend. Deadline reports it’s expected to earn about $88 million worldwide, which would be Pixar’s best global opening for an original film since Coco in 2017. In the US, Hoppers is predicted to make $36-38 million, with another $45-50 million coming from international markets. While these numbers are promising, Pixar’s Onward earned a slightly higher $39.1 million domestically upon its release.
Even though North America’s big midterm elections aren’t until 2026, the primary elections are already happening. Nathan Johnson, a Democratic candidate for Attorney General, previously served as a Texas Senator. Surprisingly, before entering politics, Johnson worked as a music composer – and you might recognize his work on the popular anime series Dragon Ball Z. He created the soundtracks for the first 67 episodes of the Funimation dub, as well as several of the Dragon Ball Z movies, including The World’s Strongest, Tree of Might, Broly – Second Coming, Fusion Reborn, and Wrath of the Dragon. While Johnson hasn’t made an on-screen appearance in an anime, given his career path, it’s not entirely out of the question considering the history of the medium.
Following the events of DC K.O., Poison Ivy #42 (written by G. Willow Wilson and illustrated by Marcio Takara) shows a big shift for the character. The previous issue ended with Ivy deciding to run for mayor, and this one jumps ahead to reveal she’s won. While supervillains becoming mayors isn’t new in comics, Ivy’s dedication to environmental issues will likely make her approach unique. However, this success has come at a price – her relationship with Harley has suffered.
Season 2 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End continues next week with Episode 7, kicking off the ‘Divine Revolte’ arc. The last episode showed the destruction caused by a dangerous demon in a small village, and Frieren’s team has been preparing for the challenge. I still think about a strategy game released in 2012 constantly – it was that good. While it doesn’t cover every type of strategy game, it perfectly captures what makes the best ones so compelling. Its blend of character development, a gripping story, large-scale strategic maps, and intense, tactical combat keeps it exciting and challenging, no matter what kind of strategy games you usually enjoy. That game is the incredible XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and I truly believe it’s been the best strategy game ever created since its release 14 years ago.
