Okay, so we don’t know a ton about the Fairy Tale series yet, but it’s exciting to hear J.H. Wyman (from Fringe) is showrunning and Paul Greengrass is producing! What’s really interesting is that it sounds like this adaptation is going to lean more into the dark fantasy side of Stephen King – think The Dark Tower or Eyes of the Dragon – and less into straight-up horror. Apparently, the show is even planning to use a really cool idea from a surprising horror hit coming out in 2025, and I think it’s going to be perfect for bringing King’s characters to life.

HBO’s new series based on the Wizarding World will feature many recognizable actors, but one big question remains: who will play Lord Voldemort? While Ralph Fiennes famously portrayed Voldemort in the Harry Potter films, he didn’t appear until Goblet of Fire – previous actors, Ian Hart and Richard Bremmer, played the role in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. This new series has the opportunity to cast its Voldemort from the beginning, and names like Cillian Murphy and Tilda Swinton have been mentioned as possibilities. Ideally, the series would recast the role with an actor who has already played Voldemort before.

During a recent earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that the new Avatar movie, Avatar: Fire & Ash, will be available to stream on Disney+ before the end of September 2026. This means viewers can expect to see it on the platform by the end of Disney’s fiscal year.

Martin Scorsese’s 2006 film, The Departed, is a fantastic gangster movie that’s recently started getting the recognition it deserves. Many consider it to be one of Scorsese’s best works, and features a career-defining performance from Mark Wahlberg. While The Godfather remains a classic, The Departed is just as worthy of praise and admiration.

Science fiction often feels overlooked by traditional movie theaters, creating a great opportunity for streaming services. It’s not surprising that many of today’s best films have premiered online, attracting huge numbers of subscribers. These movies – from unexpected successes and beloved favorites to truly great stories – prove how powerful streaming platforms are, especially when it comes to sci-fi.

I’m really excited about this new short! It takes the core idea of the original Power Rangers – a team chosen to defend Earth – but flips it on its head. Instead of succeeding, their mission fails, and the world ends up a dark, machine-controlled wasteland. It’s a much grittier, more mature take on the show we all loved as kids, clearly made for those of us who grew up with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and want something a little more intense now.

The PlayStation 1 was a hugely popular console, but some of its games haven’t aged well. While titles like Gran Turismo were once beloved, they’re now difficult to enjoy, and other popular games from that era haven’t held up much better.
