Taika Waititi’s Star Wars movie doesn’t have a release date yet because of delays from both him and Lucasfilm. But while at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, he told Variety that he’s aiming to recapture the playful spirit of the original Star Wars films, hoping to bring that same feeling back to audiences and remind them why the franchise became so beloved.

Paul Walter Hauser stars as Larson, remarkably capturing his likeness. Walton Goggins plays Peter Tomarken, the show’s host, and David Strathairn portrays Bill Carruthers, the show’s creator. It’s a truly unbelievable story brought to life on screen.
