Rewatching a series can make it seem even more intricate and rewarding due to subtle visual hints or conversations that carry more weight upon reflection. Such shows are skillfully constructed, with their conclusions enriching the overall experience instead of detracting from the journey. The knowledge of where the story is headed actually increases its emotional impact. In fact, revisiting the series demonstrates how much these creators believed in their audience’s ability to piece things together over time.

During the ’90s, films themselves grew more expansive. Stars like Schwarzenegger and Stallone skyrocketed in popularity, not just in terms of their physical size, but also in status. This surge in fame led to inflated budgets for their movies, with larger stunts and visual spectacles becoming the norm. Action films were no longer confined to B-movies shown at drive-ins; they seized control of mainstream cinema. They filled multiplexes and topped box office charts. However, this period also marked a shift in action movie production. The traditional, hands-on approach to stunts started losing favor as digital special effects and green-screen technology gained prominence.

Recently, I revisited a fantastic ’90s movie from my Hulu subscription, which I hadn’t seen in years. Just like I remembered, it was still as wild! Even though it’s nearly 30 years old now, the cast of Romeo + Juliet impressed me back then, and one performance in particular left a lasting impact. Intriguingly, it wasn’t one of the two main characters that blew me away in 1996, but still does so today in 2025.

The upcoming movie, derived from a novel by Andy Weir (the writer of The Martian), features Gosling as a modest science educator who unintentionally becomes part of a final attempt to prevent Earth’s destruction. He finds himself stranded on a spaceship far from Earth with minimal astronaut training. The fate of the planet now rests on his shoulders, along with a new companion, as they work together to unravel a secret that’s causing our Sun’s demise.

Prior to the premiere of the 2025 film titled “28 Years Later,” set in a world devastated by the lethal Rage Virus, I took the time to re-watch its prequels that had been unavailable for streaming or rental until recently – the original groundbreaking release from 2002, “28 Days Later,” and its sequel, “28 Weeks Later.” Initially, much like many others, I considered the first sequel to the realistic “zombie” movie a minor letdown, or perhaps a production some fans prefer to disregard.

Amy Pascal, the producer, had previously expressed certainty that filming would start this summer. A call for child actors, specifying availability from June to December, added fuel to the belief that production was set. However, keen observers of the reboot, especially those at NarniaWeb, have spotted increasing indications that something might be amiss in the wardrobe.

In a recent chat, DC Studios’ co-CEO James Gunn subtly suggested that there are several undisclosed projects brewing within the DC Universe, one of which he finds particularly delightful – his “most cherished project.” These fresh, hidden gems appear to be on top of the already disclosed lineup unveiled in January 2023, comprising the Authority movie, James Mangold’s Swamp Thing, and the Viola Davis-starring Waller series.
