While Hell on Wheels might not be the most well-known show, it’s a great option for fans of Deadwood looking for something similar.
The antagonists in the show Dexter all deeply affected Dexter’s mind and how he saw himself. The Ice Truck Killer seemed to understand Dexter’s past incredibly well, while the Trinity Killer expertly used family and emotional tactics to unsettle him. Every criminal Dexter faced tested his sense of right and wrong, but none were as complex or capable as he was.
Hikari, a well-known director, makes her first feature film in English with Rental Family. The movie stars Brendan Fraser as Phillip, an American actor in Tokyo who is hired to pose as a friend or family member for clients. Sarah El-Mahmoud from TopMob found the film deeply moving, and Johnny Oleksinski of the New York Post agrees that it’s a great role for Fraser, giving the film 3.5 out of 4 stars. Oleksinski writes:

Although The Midnight Club started strong with good reviews and many viewers, it was canceled after just one season. This happened because creator Mike Flanagan and his team made a new deal with Amazon. Interestingly, the show has become even more popular since it ended. The miniseries Adolescence resonates so powerfully because it handles the topic of masculinity with real sensitivity and depth. It avoids simple stereotypes or preachy lessons, instead presenting Jamie Miller and his father as incredibly realistic, sympathetic, and surprisingly relatable characters.
