Celia, why have you decided to take part in The Celebrity Traitors?
As a film buff, I’ve been hearing *so* much about this game – it’s absolutely everywhere on TV! It’s a global phenomenon, really – talked about on both sides of the Atlantic and beyond. Honestly, I think it’s a brilliantly clever idea. I’d be fascinated to meet the creative mind behind this invention – they must be incredibly talented!
What will you bring to the game?
Being as open-minded as you can is truly beneficial. People often perceive me as kind, and that might actually be helpful in certain situations.
Are you good at reading people, would you say? Can you spot a liar?
Yes, I’m willing, but I need some time to consider it. It won’t be a quick decision. I’d like to take the time to carefully observe their body language before making up my mind.
Do you want to be a Traitor or a Faithful?
I wouldn’t be upset at all – in fact, I’d be thrilled if Claudia touched my shoulder. However, I still believe it’s a rather difficult task. But I do think it’s quite a hard job.
I was so thrilled to chat with you about my involvement with The Thursday Murder Club! You asked if all that mystery and murder was good practice for me, and honestly, it absolutely was! It really helped me get into the right mindset for tackling similar themes. It was fantastic fun, and definitely a helpful warm-up!
In a way, yes. Generally speaking, as an actor, you’re used to pretending to be someone else, which is helpful. However, it’s also difficult because you don’t have a character to hide behind this time. It feels quite exposing.

In my autobiography, I described actresses as being like young Victorian ladies seated around a ballroom, waiting to be asked to dance. That’s how it feels – we’re all waiting for the right role to come along. I could certainly play Hedda Gabler in my attic, but there’d be no one there to appreciate it. If I were Van Gogh, I could paint at any hour without needing an audience. Throughout my career, I’ve mainly tried to avoid being typecast by deliberately choosing roles that are very different from what I’ve done before. And appearing on The Traitors is certainly the most different thing I’ve ever taken on.
Speaking of the game — how do you feel about the Missions?
I’m feeling pretty anxious about them. I saw some of the first season, and people were hanging upside down on one of those rotating wheels. That would really scare me! I wouldn’t want to back out, but I definitely don’t want to do that. I’m not a fan of heights – I used to enjoy amusement park rides when I was younger, but not anymore.
You’ve watched the previous series — do you have a favourite player?
I really rooted for young Harry Clark, the soldier [from series two] throughout the show. But then, I was so disappointed by his actions at the end – I thought he was awful!
Clearly, the game changes people — will we might see a different side to you?
Yes, quite possibly. I have a naughty streak that I find hard to suppress.
