Chad Michael Murray is coming clean about one very headline-making event.
Following Hilary Duff’s recent story about being invited to the 2003 premiere of Freaky Friday by her A Cinderella Story co-star – despite the ongoing feud between Duff and Lindsay Lohan – Chad Michael Murray has now shared his thoughts on how he unintentionally got caught in the middle of the drama.
Chad said he was surprised to learn about any conflict. Appearing on Virgin Radio Toronto’s Daryn & Deepa Mornings on March 25th, he explained he wasn’t aware of a feud and quickly discovered it after the fact.
He explained that while filming their version of Cinderella with Hilary Duff, they had a lengthy kissing scene intended to help their characters develop a connection.
The producers had encouraged him and Hilary to work closely together, hoping they’d be more at ease when Sam and Austin finally recorded the last scene of their story.
He recalled, “It was great. She’s super sweet.”
But why did he decide to bring Hilary to the Los Angeles premiere? It was a practical move.
I had absolutely no downtime,” she explained. “Honestly, I wasn’t aware of any conflict, or that it would even be an issue.”
He explained that now, with everyone using social media, it seems obvious what’s happening. But back then, it wasn’t like that at all. He just thought it was nice that two people were spending time together and didn’t think anything of it.
However, Lindsay Lohan’s look was quite striking. Later that year, she unexpectedly showed up at the premiere of Cheaper By The Dozen, but Hilary Duff understood the reason behind it.

She teased on the Call Her Daddy podcast last month, “That was like my childhood nemesis.”
Their rivalry with Lindsay, especially since they both dated Aaron Carter in the early 2000s, is old news. They eventually resolved their differences.
Hilary, 38, remembers that Lindsay once approached her at a club and asked if they were okay. Hilary replied that they were, and Lindsay then suggested taking a shot together, which Hilary agreed to. She described the experience as wonderful.
Hilary and Lindsay weren’t the only famous people involved in a major disagreement. Here are some other celebrities who had their own public feuds.

In January 2024, Bobby addressed speculation about a disagreement with Tan, following his announcement in November 2023 that he was leaving Queer Eye after eight seasons. (Bobby is pictured second from left.)
Look, I want to set the record straight. Tan and I are doing okay. We went through a rough patch, a personal thing that was building up between us, but it’s completely separate from the show. And just to be clear, it wasn’t a romantic issue – it was something else entirely. We’re handling it privately, and we’re going to be fine.
In March 2024, Tan addressed claims that he tried to get his friend Jeremiah Brent to replace Bobby on the show Queer Eye.
Netflix and the production team held extensive auditions. I didn’t recommend my friend for the role, but they ultimately landed it because they were the most qualified. I also want to clarify that I didn’t help them get the part by having anyone else removed from consideration, as he explained in an Instagram post.

During a September 2023 game of “Stir the Pot” with her daughter, Kelly Osbourne, on TopMob News, Sharon Osbourne revealed that actor Topher Grace was the rudest celebrity she’d ever encountered. She described him as a “rude little boy” and a “dastardly little thing.”
He did not respond to her remarks publicly.
Five years ago, Sharon shared with Larry King that Ashton seemed annoyed during his 2014 appearance on The Talk after she mispronounced his name.
She remembered him asking, ‘Who are you and what have you accomplished in this field?’ Her response was blunt: ‘Listen, don’t underestimate me, because I’ll completely overwhelm you.’ She essentially told him, ‘You have no idea who you’re talking to.’

In August 2022, Cassadee Pope and Maren Morris clashed with Brittany Aldean, the wife of country singer Jason Aldean, after Brittany posted a video on Instagram. In the video, she thanked her parents for not allowing her to transition during a phase where she preferred traditionally masculine interests, adding that she enjoys her current feminine lifestyle.

As a big fan of both JoJo Siwa and Candace Cameron Bure, it was a little shocking to hear about their disagreement! Back in 2022, JoJo shared on TikTok that Candace was the “rudest” celebrity she’d ever met, explaining it stemmed from a red carpet encounter where Candace didn’t want to take a photo with her. But honestly, Candace was super gracious and quickly apologized publicly. She admitted she probably really hurt JoJo’s feelings when she was younger, saying she felt terrible about not taking that picture and sincerely apologized to her.
Candace and the other person resolved their differences. However, when asked months later if her network, Great American Family, would ever feature same-sex couples as the main characters in its holiday films, she stated it wouldn’t, explaining that the network would continue to focus on traditional marriage.
JoJo, who publicly shared they are part of the LGBTQ+ community in 2021, said on Instagram that the actress’s comment was offensive and damaging to many people.

In June 2021, Courtney Love claimed Olivia Rodrigo had copied the album cover art for Hole in a promotional photo without giving credit. Olivia responded with a message of support, saying, “Love u and live through this sooooo much.” Courtney then playfully replied, thanking Olivia and offering to share the contact information for her favorite florist in London if Olivia messaged her.

While on Watch What Happens Live, the Happy Days actor explained the reason for his difficult relationship with the Forrest Gump star while filming the 1989 movie Turner & Hooch.
I remember when I was directing that movie – it was going well, but then I got called into Jeff Katzenberg’s office. He basically told me to pack up and go home after just thirteen days. It was a complete surprise!
Winkler and Hanks’ dog seemed to hit it off. “I really loved that dog,” Winkler said. “We got along great.”
He also refused to admit if he’s even seen the flick.

“You know what you did!”
Anyone who watched The Hills probably remembers that famous line from Lauren, spoken at the start of season three. The drama between her and Heidi began when Heidi started dating Spencer Pratt. It really exploded, though, when Lauren claimed Heidi and Spencer spread a false rumor that she had made a sex tape with her boyfriend at the time, Jason Wahler.

Tyrese and Dwayne Johnson had a public falling out in 2017, starting with an Instagram post by Tyrese after the release date for Fast & Furious 9 was delayed to April 2020. On the same day, a Fast & Furious spin-off film featuring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham was announced, scheduled for 2019. The next month, Tyrese said he would leave Fast 9 if Dwayne Johnson was still involved.
Tyrese recently discussed the conflict with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, telling Van Lathan on The Red Pill podcast that they still haven’t spoken directly, though he hopes to. He mentioned he did speak with one of Johnson’s producing partners, but not with Johnson himself.
Tyrese admitted he shouldn’t have publicly shared frustrations that were expressed by others connected to the film series. He explained he was the one who spoke out, which he now recognizes was unprofessional and a mistake.

No more bad blood here.
Taylor Swift and Katy Perry were famously feuding for years, with some believing the conflict inspired Taylor’s song “Bad Blood.” The disagreement, which started with issues over a dancer and competing concert tours, finally ended when Katy sent Taylor an olive branch – a symbol of peace – before Taylor’s Reputation Tour began.
Taylor shared in an Instagram video that she found a real olive branch in her dressing room, saying it meant a lot to her.
Taylor captioned the video, “Thank you Katy.”

For years, Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, stars of Sex and the City, dismissed rumors of a disagreement. However, those rumors resurfaced when Kim chose not to participate in a third movie and later made statements about her co-star that caused speculation.
In September 2017, during an episode of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen asked Sarah Jessica Parker how she felt about Kim Cattrall telling Piers Morgan they had only ever been coworkers, not friends.
She said she was just devastated. They had talked about it all week, and she was really bothered because her memory of what happened was completely different.
It’s upsetting, but I believe what truly connects us is the unique experience we all shared. It started as a professional project, but over the years, it became something deeply personal. I hope that those years of working on something special, and the connection people felt with it, will ultimately be more memorable than any recent disagreements. It was a real privilege to be a part of.
And though they didn’t film scenes together, Kim did make a small appearance on And Just Like That.

Elton John and Madonna have been publicly disagreeing since 2004. The conflict began when Elton, while accepting an award, sharply criticized Madonna’s live performances. He questioned whether lip-syncing could be considered a true ‘live act’ and controversially suggested that performers who lip-sync during paid concerts should face serious consequences.

The actress, formerly known for her role on Grey’s Anatomy, caused a disagreement with the show’s creator back in 2008 when she asked to no longer be considered for an Emmy Award. She explained that she didn’t believe the storylines she was given were strong enough to deserve a nomination.
Shonda Rhimes discussed Katherine Heigl’s departure in a 2012 interview with Oprah Winfrey on Oprah’s Next Chapter. She admitted it was both hurtful and expected. “When people show you their true colors, pay attention,” Shonda explained. “I’ve really taken that to heart, and it’s helped me a lot.”

The fight between Nicki and Cardi at the Harper’s Bazaar Icon party during New York Fashion Week made headlines everywhere. A month later, Cardi publicly explained what started the argument with Nicki.
Cardi B recently told W magazine that another person has been repeatedly criticizing her. They had talked twice before and seemed to resolve things, but the criticism continued.
The conflict really escalated when Cardi B noticed Nicki Minaj had supposedly liked, and then quickly unliked, a tweet criticizing Cardi’s skills as a mother – something Nicki denies doing.
As a mom, my daughter always comes first. I was on track to make a huge amount of money with a potential Bruno Mars tour, but I chose to prioritize being there for her. I’m a really dedicated mom, and it hurt me to see criticism about that, especially from people who don’t have children. Honestly, opportunities to connect with other artists don’t just fall into your lap – you have to seize the moment when you can, and I wasn’t going to miss this one hoping to ‘bump into’ someone later.

The conflict between Kanye West and Taylor Swift began in 2009 when he interrupted her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. They later reconciled and became friends, but their relationship fell apart in 2016 following the release of Kanye’s song “Famous,” which included a reference to Taylor.
Just before the Grammys in February 2025, Kanye West began following only Taylor Swift on Instagram. He didn’t offer any explanation for this action, and Taylor Swift hasn’t publicly acknowledged it.

“I don’t know her.”
As a longtime Mariah fan, I remember this whole thing so clearly! It all started back in 2003 during a TV interview she did in Germany. They asked her what she thought of Jennifer Lopez, and honestly, Mariah just said she didn’t know her. It felt a little blunt at the time, and the media just ran with it, turning it into this whole ‘feud’ that’s followed them ever since!
