Meanwhile, Mitaka observes a news broadcast revealing that the fictional USA has dropped a novel type of bomb on Russia, which the report clarifies as a “nuclear weapon.” Although this event is significant in itself, the mention of a “nuclear weapon” serves as a significant reference to Makima’s role as the Control Devil and her previous schemes.
Makima’s Previous Scheme
In the opening arc of the “Chainsaw Man” series, it’s disclosed that Makima is actually the Control Devil, striving to harness the power of the Chainsaw Devil to rewrite human history. Her ambitious plans involve erasing the very notion of death for humans, altering significant events in history that humanity would no longer recall, and implementing numerous other changes with the aim of eliminating all pain and suffering. However, Makima’s actions ultimately prove too extreme, leading to her demise at the hands of Denji. Interestingly, the Control Devil then reappears as Nayuta, but also meets a grisly end, leaving room for speculation about another Control Devil emerging in the future.
In simpler terms, Makima apparently removed the notion of nuclear weapons from existence, leaving the reporter confused about their military purpose. This revelation has caused global chaos, but it also means Asa could gain a significant advantage in her battle against the Death Devil. The Control Devil was trying to eradicate war, making people less fearful of it. Now that war is resurfacing, the War Devil will likely suffer negative consequences.
