Charlie Cox Gives Saddening Daredevil News on 2026 Crossover

Charlie Cox recently discussed the chances of Daredevil appearing in a major upcoming Marvel movie. Because ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ will include characters like the Punisher and The Hand – both closely tied to Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – many fans have wondered if Matt Murdock might be involved. However, Cox’s recent statements suggest that’s now less likely.

Charlie Cox confirms again that Daredevil isn’t in Spider-Man: Brand New Day

During the BAFTA Games Awards, an interviewer approached Charlie Cox, hoping to ask him about his role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Before the reporter could finish the question, Cox cheerfully responded, “I’m not in it. I’m not in it.”

The interviewer then focused on the last scene in the teaser trailer, showing Spider-Man attacking several members of The Hand. They pointed out that other heroes seemed to be present in the shot, but were likely removed to keep the story a secret. They then directly asked Charlie Cox if he appeared in that scene.

The actor said he had no idea what people were referring to and confirmed he wasn’t involved. He clarified that he hadn’t been on set unless the filmmakers added him in post-production using digital effects.

The reporter playfully told the Daredevil actor that it was disappointing he wasn’t involved, and Cox agreed, admitting he also wished his character could team up with Spider-Man – something he’s mentioned before.

Last month, Cox claimed Daredevil wouldn’t be in any upcoming projects during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live. But when Kimmel mentioned his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Cox playfully stated he’d keep any future appearances, even in a potential ‘Brand New Day’ storyline, a secret.

The new Spider-Man movie, “Brand New Day,” will be released in theaters on July 31, 2026. Destin Daniel Cretton directed the film, which was written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Tom Holland returns as Spider-Man, and the movie also stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Michael Mando, Tramell Tillman, and Mark Ruffalo.

The first five episodes of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 are now available to watch on Disney+. The show was created by Dario Scardapane, Matt Corman, and Chris Ord, with Scardapane also leading the production as showrunner.
