After an audio clip surfaced online nearly three months ago suggesting Chris Evans would return for Avengers: Secret Wars, the full video has now been released, confirming the news. The video, originally posted by an Instagram user celebrating Evans’ birthday, shows the Captain America actor casually mentioning his involvement. He states he’ll begin filming in a few months, though he doesn’t reveal how significant his role will be.
So, there was some chatter about Chris Evans maybe hinting at returning as Captain America in Doomsday, but that didn’t quite add up considering filming wrapped on that movie back in September 2025 and this news popped up much later. However, with Avengers: Secret Wars supposedly starting to film this summer, his recent comment about beginning work on his next Marvel project “in a couple of months” now makes way more sense! It’s no surprise Marvel fans are reacting strongly to the news, but many are surprisingly upset that Chris Evans seemingly confirming his return might spoil a major plot point in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ film – specifically, that his character must survive the first appearance of Doom.
