The Guardians of the Galaxy were central to the storyline of the Infinity Saga, but they haven’t been as prominent in the current Multiverse Saga. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ended with the team disbanding, with each member pursuing their own individual journeys. The film specifically stated that only Star-Lord would return in future installments. It’s been three years since that announcement, and fans are eager to see what happens next with the character. Chris Pratt recently shared some insights into Star-Lord’s future.
In an interview with Screentime, Chris Pratt said he’d be most excited to reprise his role as Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He mentioned a commitment made with Guardians of the Galaxy to bring the character back, saying he’d really like to fulfill that promise. Pratt also playfully entertained the idea of a solo Star-Lord movie pitched by the interviewer, titled Star-Lord Assemble Music Mission.
Will Star-Lord Return In Avengers: Doomsday?

A solo Star-Lord movie or another Guardians of the Galaxy film doesn’t seem likely right now. However, Peter Quill could still appear in future Marvel movies. The upcoming Avengers films, Doomsday and Secret Wars, are the most likely candidates. These movies will include many characters from different universes, so it would be surprising if Star-Lord didn’t show up during the fight against Doctor Doom.
Chris Pratt wasn’t included in the initial cast announcement for the highly anticipated Doomsday movie last year. While this doesn’t necessarily mean he’s not in the film – as seen with the earlier tease about Steve Rogers’ return – there are signs he might not appear. Reports indicate Pratt had a scheduling conflict while Doomsday was being filmed, as he was working on a new season of his show, The Terminal List. Although it’s still possible he could make a cameo (he could have filmed scenes with the directors whenever his schedule allowed), it seems likely that Star-Lord won’t be part of Doomsday.
Even though Star-Lord is a popular character, it might be better if he doesn’t have a major role in the upcoming Doomsday event. The movie is already juggling many superhero teams and introducing Doctor Doom as the main villain, played by Robert Downey Jr. If there isn’t enough to do for Star-Lord, it would be better to save him for a future project. After being a key part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over ten years, it would be a letdown if he only had a small part in such a large movie. Marvel should only include Chris Pratt as Star-Lord if they have a significant story for him.
Considering everything, it seems more likely that Star-Lord will appear in Avengers: Secret Wars. Some characters might die in Doomsday, leaving openings that Chris Pratt could fill. Given that Secret Wars is planned as a fresh start for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing Pratt back for one last performance as Star-Lord would be a fitting sendoff. Marvel hasn’t always followed through on hints from their post-credit scenes, but hopefully, Star-Lord’s return will be an exception.
