Christina Aguilera is showing her family some elastic love.
The singer, known as Bionic, shared details about her recent trip to Costa Rica with her fiancé, Matt Rutler, and their 11-year-old daughter, Summer Rain. They experienced a wide variety of activities during their vacation.
Christina, 45, shared her thanks in a comment on La Paz Waterfall Gardens & Wildlife Refuge’s March 25th Instagram video. She described the tour as wonderful and a refreshing escape, adding “Pura vida xxx” as her family explored the tropical forest.
The group started by taking pictures by the waterfall, then visited the sanctuary’s zoo to see jungle cats, birds, monkeys, and frogs. While the animals in the zoo were behind glass, they got to enjoy a more hands-on experience with butterflies in a separate exhibit. A couple of short videos show Summer happily posing with her mom, which is a rare sight on Christina’s Instagram page.
Continuing with the outdoorsy vibe, Christina Aguilera—who is also a mom to 17-year-old Max with her ex-husband Jordan Bratman—and Matt both wore matching athletic outfits. Summer, meanwhile, chose a more relaxed look with a loose-fitting top and shorts.
Christina and Matt, who have been engaged since 2014, love creating memories with their daughter while traveling. Last November, Christina, known for her role in Burlesque, posted pictures from their trip to Japan on Instagram, and their daughter Max joined them.
Summer’s parents generally prefer to keep her out of the public eye, but they do enjoy celebrating important occasions, like when Matt publicly acknowledged her tenth birthday in August 2024.
Celebrating a big milestone – double digits! – and all the exciting things to come,” the proud father shared on Instagram. “It’s been incredible watching you become the wonderful person you are, and I cherish every moment. Wishing you a lifetime of happy memories, laughter, and love. I’m so proud and grateful to be your dad.
Meanwhile, Christina has praised her daughter for following in her acting footsteps.
As a proud parent, I totally get what she said on the Jennifer Hudson Show last December. I’ve always believed in letting my kids explore what they love, and being their biggest cheerleader along the way. It’s amazing to see my daughter getting into acting, and I’m so happy I’ve been able to support her with a few lessons. It’s all about nurturing their passions, you know?
However, the teen isn’t limiting her artistic voice to just one medium.
“She’s a true artist,” explained the host of Back to Basics. “She’s talented in so many ways – painting, drawing, mask-making – and she really has a unique style.”

She told Jennifer Hudson that she doesn’t want to force her children into any activities, and wants to support whatever they enjoy. Her daughter has recently become interested in acting and has started taking lessons.
