Chuck Norris is walking into the beyond.
Chuck Norris, the star of Walker, Texas Ranger and a renowned martial artist, passed away on March 19th at the age of 86, his family announced.
I was so saddened to hear about Chuck’s passing. His family shared a message on Instagram saying they’re keeping the details private, which I completely understand. But they did want everyone to know he was with his loved ones and peacefully passed away, and that brought me a little comfort amidst the sadness.
The statement described Chuck as a martial arts star, actor, and an icon of strength to the world. But to his family, he was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather – and the center of everything they shared.
Those who knew and loved Chuck remembered his strong faith, sense of purpose, and deep devotion to his family and friends. He leaves behind a lasting legacy through his work, including memorable roles in films like The Delta Force and The Way of the Dragon, which will continue to inspire others for years to come.
It breaks my heart to hear about Chuck, but his family wanted everyone to know they’re so thankful for the incredible life he had. They especially appreciate all of us fans who shared that journey with him – it means the world to them, and to me, knowing how much joy he brought to so many.
His family shared that he deeply appreciated the love and support he received from his fans worldwide, and they are incredibly grateful for it. He considered his fans to be like close friends.
The statement also mentioned reports of a medical emergency Chuck experienced in Hawaii on March 19th, requiring hospitalization. His family expressed their gratitude for the prayers and support received, but didn’t offer any further details.

Chuck’s family concluded their statement with a request for privacy as they grieve their loss.
The martial artist recently passed away, just over a week after celebrating his 86th birthday. He famously told fans that he didn’t see aging as a decline, but as a process of growth, saying, “I don’t age. I level up.”
A video accompanied the March 10th post, showing Chuck—a father of five from different relationships—boxing playfully with a friend. The scene was set against the beautiful backdrop of Hawaiian palm trees and the ocean.
Today, I was so inspired to see him turn 86 and celebrate by enjoying a beautiful, active day! He shared that there’s nothing quite like being out in the sun and having fun to make you feel youthful. It was heartwarming to read how grateful he is for another year of good health and the ability to continue doing what brings him joy. It truly is a beautiful thing to witness!
Oh my gosh, he actually said we’re the best fans in the world! It completely melted my heart. And then he said our support over the years meant more to him than we’d ever know… I’m seriously crying right now. It just feels so amazing to know he appreciates us this much. He’s the sweetest, truly!

Chuck Norris became famous for both his acting and his martial arts skills, but he didn’t originally plan to become an actor. He first considered it after teaching Steve McQueen martial arts, who then suggested he try acting.
During a 2008 graduation speech at Liberty University, Chuck remembered someone asking him if he’d ever considered acting. He laughed, explaining he hadn’t even participated in a high school play. The person then told him he had a certain quality that would translate well on screen, and encouraged him to give it a try.
As they say, the rest is history. Chuck Norris became a star in many films and TV shows over his career, but he’s best known for Walker, Texas Ranger, which ran from 1993 to 2001.

Growing up, Chuck loved Westerns and always dreamed of becoming an actor, so he had a clear idea of the roles he wanted to play when he finally started his acting career.
He explained to Empire magazine in 2007 that when he started working in movies, he intentionally tried to create an image of himself as someone who stood up for what was right. He jokingly added that it was a good thing he did, because his acting skills weren’t very good at the time!
Honestly, one of the things I loved most about watching Jared Padalecki as Cordell Walker was seeing him take down the villains. It was so satisfying to watch him bring those bad guys to justice – it was clearly a passion for him too, and it really showed on screen.
Throughout his life, Chuck was known for freely sharing his conservative political views. However, unlike his fellow actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, he never considered a career in politics for himself.
He explained to Empire that he believes he can be more effective working outside of politics. He shared a thought process: ‘If I were to get into a debate and my opponent started personally attacking me, would reacting violently – like jumping over the desk and knocking them out – actually help my chances of winning?’
Laughing, he added, “They go, ‘I don’t think so…’”
