Following their recent updates to several Far Cry games for PlayStation 5 – improvements that now allow them to run at a smooth 60 frames per second – Ubisoft is said to be focusing on bringing similar enhancements to the Assassin’s Creed series.
Tom Henderson, a source for Insider Gaming, recently discussed on their podcast that the publisher is planning to remake older Assassin’s Creed games. He suggested that Assassin’s Creed Unity might be the first title to receive this treatment, according to yesterday’s podcast episode.
Even though a source at Insider Gaming reported otherwise, Ubisoft has quietly added 60FPS support to some older Assassin’s Creed titles on PlayStation 5. Updates were released for Assassin’s Creed Origins in 2022 and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate earlier this year, in 2024.
If Ubisoft releases updates to improve the frame rate of older Assassin’s Creed games to 60FPS, we might see The Ezio Collection, Assassin’s Creed III Remastered, Rogue Remastered, and Unity receive those updates too. However, there’s also a strong possibility that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is getting a complete remake as a separate project.
This week, Ubisoft updated Far Cry 3, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, and Far Cry Primal to run at 60 frames per second on the PlayStation 5.
